Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Timex Dual Alarm Clock Radio for Mp3 Songs (Black)Customer Review: The Little Alarm Clock Radio that could... Summary: 5 Stars
I don't usually take the time to write product reviews, but in this case I had to. A few things to understand, I wanted an alarm clock that would wake me to my favorite songs in MP3 format without tieing up my i-Pod. I was looking for a clock that has a USB connection for a flash drive since they are so cheap and hold a ton of music. This Timex Clock Alarm is perfect. It has a place to connect your flash drive with a cover too - unexpected. It has 2 alarm settings including a snooze button and you can select specific songs on the flash drive to wake up to. Other features include a dimmer control for the display light and a battery back-up in case you loose power. The sound quality is very good - I was surprised how good becasue it is not a stereo system. It is not a Bose sound system, but plenty good to wake up to. The clock is big enough, while the overall size of the radio is small enough. If you are using the dual alarm feature, the settings are easy to follow from the instructions - it takes a little time to set those specific songs, but easy enough. I'm happy with the puchase, I like the little alarm clock radio that could.
Customer Review: It worked for about 30 seconds Summary: 2 Stars
before the sound started to cut in and out and then it quit altogether. So, needless to say, I'm sending it to the manufacturer for repair/replacement (at an additional $10 cost, of course). I hope they can provide a replacement that works because I really like the features on this alarm clock.
I bought it for the option of playing sounds I downloaded (roosters, morning prayer call, energy-inducing wake-up songs) and the great feature of being able to snooze by remote from across the room (very handy, I thought).
I did my due diligence in reading product reviews before deciding to purchase this (albeit subconsciously ignoring or dismissing the negative ones and focusing on the positive ones instead). It got pretty good reviews overall, so I thought I'd take my chances.
I wish I had more to add about the features, but other than the dimmer on the display (which is pretty nice) I didn't get much of a chance to mess around with it before it died on me. The settings and functions are easy to understand and it looks like it would be a good, simple, easy to operate alarm clock. ... if only it worked.
Customer Review: the only alarm clock of its kind Summary: 4 Stars
The main reason to buy this alarm clock is if you are looking for an alarm clock that can play music from a flash drive. the sound quality is decent for just one speaker. the display can be dimmed, but by the time I get it dim enough to sleep, I can't see the time anymore. that's a little annoying. A feature that I wish it had would be to wake to a random song. Not a dealbreaker though, since no other alarm clock can wake you up with music on a flash drive. it's a nice, compact alarm clock and it looks nice. the buttons can be awkward to use. you have to use one hand to hold the alarm clock in place while you push buttons with the other so it doesn't get pushed around. snooze button is a big button on the top and is easy to hit but the button to turn the alarm off is small and off to the side on the front. I guess it forces you to wake up to find it.
setting the alarm is pretty simple and painless. setting the time is weird...it's supposed to set automatically given the time zone, but it doesn't set to the right time if you do that. So I had to set it manually.
Customer Review: ABSOLUTLEY FLOORED WITH THE QUALITY!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been on the hunt for a perfect alarm clock for months. Every single one available on the market turned me off in one form or another. Until Timex released this model. I have nothing but praise for Timex
At first glance it seems a bit tiny. It is but do not let this fool you. It sounds pretty amazing considering the size and the fact that it only has one speaker. . The sound is crystal clear. Mp3's sound great. The radio sounds great too. I don't use it for FM/AM however as I have an HD radio just for that purpose.
Finally someone thought too give you the option to shut off the back light completely. Even the lowest setting on most clocks drives me up the wall when I try to sleep. For me this was a dilema, the light drove me crazy but not being able to see the clock worried me in case the alarm failed to sound. This clock includes a full function remote that allows me to turn the light on the clock as needed and off again.
For $80.00 this is a great clock radio. It serves all my needs.
Customer Review: Ditto on I-Trader - An IPod Player NOT Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know why it's so hard to find a clock radio/mp3 player alarm that doesn't require Ipod or seperate audio input.
Wife's cd clock alarm quit playing the cd, so I looked for and found this mp3 player. I guess they don't make them anymore, because you cannot find new.
Bought the new but opened box, and it appears new. I had an extra SD card, so I ripped 3 of her favorites to the card. It was not trouble and played them all great. One of the selections didn't show the title, so I looked for another audio ripping program and got FreeRIP from cnet downloads. It brought over the title and I recommend the program for light, quick use.
It plays both WMA and MP3. Mine were mixed, so for uniformity, I converted them all to MP3 with a feature of FreeRIP.
I like hers so much, I just ordered another for me.
To me, its an wake up alarm. If I want to do some serious listening, I don't use an alarm clock radio. This being said, I don't rate audio quality but it's ok.
