Customer Review: Great travel alarm

Apparently a different alarm clock than shown is being shipped. My review below refers only to the clock shown, not an Elgin or any other brand. I've since replaced this travel alarm and now use the Nightfinder travel alarm from LL Bean. I use it daily and it hasn't let me down...travels well too.
I'm surprised at the negative reviews of this clock. I've had one of these for so long I don't remember when I got it - 6 years would be a conservative estimate. I use it as my daily alarm clock and I take it with me when I travel, at least 10 trips a year.
I've found that it keeps accurate time and is loud enough to wake me up (I'm a sound sleeper too) without being so loud it gives me a heart attack when it goes off. The thermometer is reasonably accurate and the light still works fine. I like that it displays the date, and that the display can be configured for 12 hour or 24 hour display (e.g. 3:55 pm or 1555). It doesn't take up much space on the dresser and folds up nicely for travel.
Overall, this has been everything I've needed in an alarm clock: accurate, reliable, and easy to use.
