Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of RCA EZ201 Small Wonder 60 Minute Point-and-Shoot Camcorder (White)Customer Review: Easy to use, but some problems. Summary: 3 Stars
We purchased this item because it was light weight, relatively inexpensive and with the 2 gig memory card could shoot 4 hours of video.
Biggest problem was daytime shooting. With the sun at your back (as most shots are taken)it is virtually impossible to see the screen. This product could use a hood or mask to solve the problem.
Also, the product does not come with a lot of information on how to use it with the 2 Gig card attached.
But the video results we got were pretty good considering its size and simplicity.
Customer Review: Extremely poor quality item Summary: 1 Stars
I had temporary use of a friend's RCA Small Wonder EZ205 and found it a good quality item for the price. However, there seemed to be good reviews of its predecessor, the EZ201. Since the EZ205 is unavailable I purchased the EZ201 and it's AWFUL. The quality of the video is grainy, makes everything look either green or red and is even more of a disappointment given some of the positive reviews it received from various online reviewers. When I called the company they said, Sorry that's just the way it's made!!!! Don't waste 5 cents on this item.
Customer Review: Cannot edit videos! Corrupt files! Summary: 1 Stars
I spent the summer taking videos with this camera, and then saving them on my WindowsXP machine. I've spent a week trying to get the stored .avi files from my Small Wonder to work with Windows Movie Maker and Auto Movie Creator. I'm unable to do this because of Critcal Failure, Runtime Errors. After days of correspondence with RCA, and researching the web, the conclusion is that you can ONLY edit your .avi RCA files with the RCA Memory Maker.........which is extremely limited to the point of being worthless. Don't buy this camera!
Customer Review: Works OK, but doesn't compare to FLIP Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased the Small Wonder and the higher resolution version of the FLIP camera to evaluate for an educational video project. I read other reviews rating the FLIP much higher, but I wanted to see for myself. The other reviews were correct. The Small Wonder can't complete in either picture quality (it is especially weak in low light) or sound quality. The sound quality was surprisingly bad. I videotaped my son play the piano, and the distortion at playback made it difficult to listen to.
Customer Review: Small Wonder Summary: 4 Stars
The Small Wonder delivers everything that it claims. Easy to use, handy, convenient, computer interface, etc are all great features. Movie resolution is pretty good at highest resolution. The additional memory chip is great for storing additional movies. Downsides-screen is hard to see in bright sun light and distance shots are not practical. Definitely best in the close up world of candid movies--kids parties, family get-togethers and the like. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.
