Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS 2-Line Scientific Calculator

Customer Review: Good calculator at a reasonable price.
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought 2 of these-one for my 9th grade daughter (Algebra) & one for my 7th grade son (Pre-Algebra). Looks like it'll work for them through Geometry & probably Trigonometry. After that they might need a TI-83 for the graphing capabilities, but given the cost of that & the greater than likely probability of one of them losing or destroying the calculator before then, I figured this was the better option for now. This is definitely a good calculator at a good price.

Customer Review: Worked great
Summary: 5 Stars

I didn't take math my senior year of high school and didn't know where my calculator was when I started college. I bought this one because it was cheap, compared to the TI 83 that I wanted. I used it for 2 years before it was damaged (my fault, not a product defect).

I bought a cheap calculator to replace it and have been very disappointed. I plan on getting another calculator like these before my statistics class next semester.

Customer Review: Annoying Shortcomings
Summary: 3 Stars

The keys are hard to push.
To recall a previous answer requires using the '2nd' key.
Recalling stored numbers requires using arrows to scroll through a list.
In general, usage is inconsistent with BA II Plus.
In general, usage patterns are not intuitive.
Physical construction of calculator appear cheap.

This calculator is a relic; I wish Google would come out a competing version.

Customer Review: I bought this calculator replace a TI-30x I had broken
Summary: 1 Stars

I thought this would be exactly the same as the TI 30X I was replacing. It is not. This thing is a piece of junk. I guess Texas Inst. decided to cut cost and quality.

You have to press the buttons two or three times for every keystroke and ensure that the calculator detected your input. This HUGE bug makes the calculator completely worthless. I've had free calculators that work better than this thing.

Customer Review: Pedro is not blue?
Summary: 4 Stars

The price on this calculator was right, so I bought it. After spending a week in my backpack (full of heavy books) this calculator was busted. It's not like I snapped it in half or anything, it just would no longer respond to the 'on' button. I thought that the heavy duty slide-off cover was supposed to prevent this sort of thing, but I guess not.

Good calculator to have in class, not backpacks.
