This calculator is the same thing as the BAII plus, except that it looks and feels a lot nicer. It comes in a leatherette case which I like, but may be a problem for some people who are used to hard plastic cases. The buttons are nice and hard and there is a metallic cover on the face plate, which is nice.
Other than that, its just a Business calculator, which offers ways to calculate NPV, IRR, Interest Rates, Amortizations, and all those goodies, by just pushing a few buttons. The handbook that comes with it is a great way to learn how to use this calculator, as its offers a few examples to pretty much all the functions that the calculator has.

This calculator has a nice design/look, and it's calculating powers and functionality are acceptable. However, the buttons are terrible. Punching numbers in too quickly, or if you neglect to place perfect pressure on one of the keys, can cause you to omitted various numbers into your calculations. I prefer to be able to enter numbers quickly with light touch to the calculator but there is something cheap or poorly engineered in regards to how the calculator receives inputs. Perhaps it is just my style, and may work properly for others, but I do find this aspect of the calculator disappointing. I will, however, add that the inexpensive price may be the trade off for superb key stroke handling.Customer Review: Great Tool

I had a choice to make for college. It was either buy the BA II Plus Financial calculator or the BA II Plus Professional Financial Calculator. Either one would have been good for the finance and accounting courses I am taking currently. However, my decision came down to the matter of which one would be a better tool and purchase for after college and into the professional world and graduate school world. It came down to this version. Simply put, it has more tools on it that are good for finance and accounting, which made the difference.
If you are looking for a calculator that will be a great purchase for years to come, this is the calculator for you.

I recently bought the TI BA II Plus Professional for the December CFA exam. I found it easy to learn and use. The functionality is almost exactly like the "regular" BA II Plus, but the Professional has a few added features that saved me some precious seconds during my exam. For example, it calculates Payback and Discounted Payback periods, MIRR, and Net Future Value, all of which are not available on the non-Professional model. The calculator is feature-rich, yet doesn't have so many features that you need to read the manual cover-to-cover just to learn basic functionality. Ease of Use = Excellent.
DUAL FUNCTION KEYS are clearly marked, and easy to use. Color is used well.
HANDBOOK which comes with the TI BA II Plus makes it easy to perform complex functions. Complex functions appear to be expanded, and extremely valuable, including clearer operations for "Time Value of Money", and labeling for it.
The DUAL KEYS identifications are labeled much better and clearer; differentiating colors are used much better, an improvement over the TI BA I purchased about 14 years ago.
I am very pleased with the functions of the TI BA II Plus business calculator, and even more pleased with the PRICE I paid on [...] for it!
