Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Electronic Motorized Revolving Lighted Tie Rack With Ionizer, and 4 FREE "C" BatteriesCustomer Review: Needs improvement Summary: 2 Stars
My Sharper Image Battery operated Revolving Tie Rack lasted longer than the company stores. I was sorry to see both go.
My unit sits on a clothes bar in a closet with a shelf just above it. Without the battery access in the front, there would be no way to insert batteries.
Its style was not as polished as either the Sharper Image or Brookstone products.
It was difficult to mount. My bars are securely mounted with screws so they can't come out and don't move. This product required removing the entire bar, and all the shirts that were on it. The handy man I hired cost more than the revolving tie rack.
Once installed, the adventure was not over. While I found the belt holders a plus, I didn't us them. I did not like the low volume, but constant, electrical type sound the unit makes. The unit does not move unless the left or right arrows are pressed. That sound tells me there is some type of unnecessary battery draining activity coming on. This is obviously true. I have had the unit approximately 6 weeks and just had to replace all the batteries. Not good.
I still can't figure out what the "on/ion" button between the left and right buttons does, except when I just pressed it one time nothing really happened. The second time I press it these was a very low-volume sound of what seemed like an electrical battery motor running; but, nothing was moving. Possibly, this could be the "I want to waste my batteries sooner" button; otherwise, I still have no idea what this button is for. Suggestion: Press the useless "on/ion" button again so you don't hear any sound. It might save your batteries.
Pressing the left button turns the light on, and moves the tie rack left; the right button does the same to the right. Pressing them even stops everything. Still no idea what the "on/ion" button is for.
Foolish me for not having checked sooner; but, I just found that Sharper Image still has a catalog outlet that sells motorized tie racks. Even though it is a real pain the redo, I am seriously thinking about replacing this motorized tie rack with the Sharper Image model. It is definitely a better product.
