Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Targus PADVD010U USB 2.0 DVD/CD-ROM Slim External Drive - BlackCustomer Review: Disappointment Summary: 1 Stars
I was very disappointed with this product. When I plugged it in to my PC it overloaded the USB power and when I tried to buy a power supply from Targus, I was told that they no longer supplied them and I had to buy one from a third party source at twice the price plus an exorbitant shipping fee. Now it sometimes works and sometime does not. It is the first item that I have bought through Amazon that i have been really disappointed with
Customer Review: works great for tablet pc's with no cd/dvd Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this for a few years and bought because my Toshiba tablet did not have a cd/dvd drive. It was one of the few drives that was self powered from USB. There is no way I could use this on a plane if I had to plug it in! It used very little battery life. Works fast and dependable. Very durable also. It's been to all 50 states with me and through TSA many many times. Never skips a beat! However, it is not a burner - reader only.
Customer Review: Targus is Great Summary: 5 Stars
This worked great for me, I haven't tried the dvd playback yet but it reads cd's nicely. I didn't have to install anything. I would have liked it to write dvd's, but I already have an internal dvd-r so this was fine for what it is. I once had an issue with a targus product and they sent me a new part for free with the shipping. It ended up being a good experience so I went with the name as well as the product on this one.
Customer Review: perfect addition to my aspire one Summary: 5 Stars
Purchased this drive at the same time with my Aspire One. The targus is small, quiet and performs as advertised. I especially like the rubberized coating, keeps it from sliding around and I imagine offers a little more protection if knocked or dropped. Works fine off just the USB, but has the ability to be plugged into the wall.
Customer Review: Exactly what the doctor ordered Summary: 5 Stars
I recently bought a HP 2133 mini notebook which does not have a cd/dvd player internally. I decided this was the best thting to purchase because it does not require external power, you only need to plug it into a USB outlet on the computer. It worked perfectly and I would highly recommend this compact unit.
