I got this backpack as my birthday gift and I'm very pleased with it.
It's features are amazing, the manufacturer claims that it can hold up 15" widescreen laptops but let me tell you that it hold nicely my 17" Toshiba widescreen laptop like a glove. Many zipped pockets, gives you room to store almost anything.
When I do a short travel (3-4 days) I put into it all the things that I need, clothes, shoes, personal care and my laptop and I can say that althought it's a lot of stuff into it, you won't feel any pressure on your back while you carry it.
The bottom of the bag is made with a material that is waterproof and resistant to scratches, so forget about a ripped backpack that lets its content fall down.
Stylish? A lot. I was amazed when I saw the picture. It's really good looking and discreet. You would be able to walk in a crowded street and nobody will notice that you are carrying a laptop (one of the best reason to get a backpack instead of a suitcase).
If you need a secure backpack with lot of space, confort, good look and discretion, that also holds baseball-field-sized (17") laptops; then this backpack is for you.

Targus has always been renowned for the excellent (and pricey) laptop bags they make. Once I had a laptop or was given one by the company in which I was working, the first thought was always "I had to get a Targus bag". The problem for me has always been that Targus bags are expensive (justifiably probably), so when I realized that at my new job I had to carry my laptop around, I started to look at backpacks, that in my job as a teacher in more than one college, are much more practical than shoulder bags, at least for me. When I started to look at backpacks, the ones that could meet my needs where pretty expensive until I found the Targus. I was surprised by the price, so I decided to give it a shot. It is a really nice backpack; big and comfortable. It has nice shoulder straps and plenty of room. The internal pocket for the computer accepts a 15.4" like mine with no problems and is well cushioned. So far, it has performed well with no signs of rips or stretched stitches. I miss maybe one more external pocket and the one on the side larger and longer than it actually is. Very good price for the features and overall quality. Way to go Targus! Pros.

2. Perfect fabrication quality.
3. Sectioning, straps, padding, pockets placement are well designed.
4. Is lightweight and spacious.
5. This backpack fits inside a mid-size backpack.
Nice pockets:
1. Two letter-size pockets (without rigid support) for documents inside the main section.
2. Mesh pocket inside the middle section.
3. Mesh sidepocket for a bottle.
Imperfect pockets:
1. The size of the laptop sleeve (15"x1.75"x10.5") and the length of the strap are too big for a 15-inch laptop, so that the laptop is not fixed firmly. The only solution is to cut down the strap and put some 15-inch cushion into the pocket.
2. Closable sidepocket ("mobile phone sleeve") is nice for power cord but is too small for power adapter (the best place for these items).
3. "MP3 player sleeve" is too wide and too shallow for a mouse (the best place for a mouse).
What is absent:
1. No "card" pocket inside the small section.
2. No CD pocket, though you can use letter-size pockets.

I purchased this backpack about a month ago to replace my shoulder strap laptop briefcase. I am an MBA student using this backpack on a daily basis to carry my laptop and books/binders around. The backback definitely met my expectations:
1. I have a lot more space for 2inch ring binders
2. My Dell latitude laptop (15 inch screen) fits with no problem
3. My back/soulders no longer hurt (I usulally walk 40 minutes daily carrying this around)
4. Backpack will stand up straight even when not loaded which makes it easy to load/unload.
On the negative side.
1. The net on the side will not hold securely a bottle of water if the backpack is full. So I am using the side pocket with the zipper for my water.
2. The padding for the computer case is not sufficient. I am using extra padding that I have removed from my laptop briefcase to protect my computer better.
3. The shoulder straps could be a little larger to accomodate large guys like myself (particularly when wearing a winter coat).
Overall, this was a great purchase and a great value for the money I paid.
Customer Review: Nice bag but beware the zipper

I have owned this bag (or versions of it) for two and a half years. It's a good bag with lots of pockets (although quite large), and I really like that it has a lifetime warrenty because I've had to use it.
I owned it for about a year and a half before the zipper for the main compartment broke. I sent it back to Targus, and they (pretty quickly, I admit) sent me another (smaller version of the) bag. I then went overseas with my bag. Now, in less than a year, the zipper has broken again. I can still zip it if I am very careful, but most of the time it falls open. Unfortunately, I now live West Africa where it is difficult for me to send the bag back to claim the warrenty on it again and where it is difficult for me to find a replacement laptop backpack.
So, if you plan to stay in the U.S. with this bag and don't mind the hassle/time of sending it back to the company for occasional repairs/replacement, this is an affordable backpack for your laptop. If you plan to go overseas with it, invest in something a little more durable....
