Customer Review: Good Value, but not a perfect bag

This bag is a very nice value. Its one of the cheapest laptop cases out there, yet still looks to be made out of quality materials and with quality construction. A 15.4" notebook fits easily into the bag. The shoulder strap has a nice rubber pad for comfort, however, as some of the other reviewers noted, the pad is not adjustable. The bag is also small size, meaning it weighs much less than some other larger bags.
The one downside is the size. The secondary pouch is large enough to fit either a power cord and mouse OR folders, books, etc. Not both. There are smaller compartments to hold pens, CDs, and other smaller items. There is even a third pouch on the opposite side of the secondary pouch. But this is very thin, so it is really only good for a few papers. Its also not protected, and only closes by a small piece of Velcro, making it less secure, especially when traveling through an airport or train station. The bag is not really designed to be traveled with, especially if you need to bring a lot of different things with you.
The bag is a good basic transportation solution. And for $17.99 that's what you'd expect. But if you need something more than that, it might be worthwhile to spend the extra money on a better (and bigger) bag.

I've been searching for quite a while for a bag that was slim, sturdy, and can hold my things when going around school. As a college student I needed a decent bag that can carry my laptop, notebooks, pens and other accessories. This bag fit that bill perfectly. My 15" MacBook Pro fits snugly within the laptop compartment. Due to the cushions in that compartment, I feel safe with my laptop in there. My charger also fits nicely in the second compartment as do a few of my notebooks. A pencil, clicking eraser, and two pens are on the front in the holders. I kinda wish there were maybe an extra one or two slots to hold more pens, but this is good enough. I don't put anything in the front pockets due to the fact that they might fall out as I'm walking.
I used to own several Targus laptop cases but those were too bulky compared to this. This case is just the right size. It's slim enough to give you a nice look and to lug around. It's not too heavy when I fill it with everything I need, although a cushion on the strap would be nice. After long walks across campus, the strap does cause some discomfort.
All in all, if you're looking for a nice, sturdy messenger bag this is the one. With the price on this one, it is a must buy!
Customer Review: Dangerous for Laptops

I've been using this bag since the middle of 2008. At first it seemed like a basic, well-made, no-frills laptop bag. There's enough room for a 15" laptop, its accessories, and a few more small items, as well as a pocket for papers and folders. The problem is the shoulder strap. The clips that attach it to the metal D-rings on the bag will occasionally twist themselves loose, allowing the bag to fall to the ground and potentially damaging your valuable laptop. Let me be clear: I have the strap attached correctly, and I am VERY careful, every time I use this bag, to untwist the strap and make sure the clips are securely attached. They are not broken; this is a design flaw. Two days ago it happened again. The strap spontaneously worked its way loose in an elevator, this time damaging the lid of my expensive work laptop upon impact with the floor. The thin padding offers almost no protection when this happens. Enough is enough. The problem has prompted me to write this negative review and finally replace this bag with one that will actually protect my laptop.
Hopefully Targus has updated their shoulder strap clip design to address this problem, but if not, don't say I didn't warn you...

I purchased this bag off an Amazon Gold Box deal so the price was too good to pass up. Even at Amazon's regular price it is still a good deal considering how much carrying bags cost.
The bag looks just like the picture. It is fairly slim, yet has several pouches under the flap for discs, pens, pencils, flash media, cords, etc., plus of course the compartment for your laptop, as well as a large zippered compartment under the flap and a velcro-sealed compartment on the other side of the bag. Design-wise it is pretty basic (as you can see from the picture). Some have commented that it looks very expensive but in my opinion it looks nice but nothing fancy. It certainly doesn't look cheap.
Another plus: it is made by Targus so you can expect good quality. The stitching is well-done and the straps, handles, etc. are also made well. The padding is adequate and actually very good considering the thickness of the bag. More padding would also make the bag thicker, and then it would no longer be a slim-type model. I'm happy with my purchase.

After reading many reviews on this laptop case, I took the chance and ordered one. As with other purchasers of this case, I am very pleased with it.
My smaller laptop (a 14-inch HP) snugs down well into the padded laptop portion of this case. There is plenty of room for the AC power adapter, as well as my mobile mouse, two flash drives, etc., in the zippered compartment. Probably the only improvement to this laptop case that I would suggest would be an attached "key ring" on inside of the case (i.e. the zippered compartment) so I could clip my flash drives onto it.
The workmanship and material are good quality and the design makes this case easy to load, unload, and haul about. I am pleased over the reasonable price, too, as roomy laptop cases tend to be expensive. I did not want a huge case but I certainly do not care for those tight-fitted neoprene cases. This laptop case is a great compromise! It's like the items in the story of the Three Bears: it is neither too small nor too large!
