Customer Review: Inconsistent battery life

The mouse works for PC/IBM, Sony, and Apple laptops. I use it primarily with the IBM laptop running XP. No software to install, just plug-in and use. When this mouse is plugged in, it does not turn off my normal laptop pointer nor track pad functions. If you go back to the mouse after using the pointer or track pad, the 'screen arrow' experiences a 1-2 sec delay after you start moving the mouse. The USB wireless connector goes into a pop-out slot underneath the mouse, which I think is convenient and well-designed. The product package includes a pouch and a cord with one USB end to plug into your computer to charge the 2 batteries (also included). As an earlier reviewer noted, you need to keep your laptop on to charge the mouse. I found it inconvenient to keep my laptop on for a few extra hours just to charge the mouse. The batteries run anywhere from 2 to 8 hrs (continuous use). There is no light or indicator when the mouse is fully charged or discharged, you just have to guess. I have not tried replacing the original rechargeable batteries, but these original ones showed this kind of battery life about 1-2 months after purchase. I wanted a small, portable, wireless, optical mouse that could be used on any of the laptops in our household. This fits the bill except for the inconsistent battery life.
