Customer Review: ingenius design but arbitrarily disconnects - Don't waste your money

Below is the original review. Since I've started using the hub, lovely design aside, the entire hub will arbitrarily disconnect (and thus all the attached devices) from the computer when nothing has been jostled. It's happened just about every time I have my ipod classic plugged it-I'm just waiting for one of the devices to corrupt because of the unsafe device removal. I'm fed up and this piece of garbage is going where it belongs, in the TRASH. I have a mini hub squid from staples that is of similar design. The disconnection issue doesn't happen with the staples replacement i had to buy.
I also tried using this on my work laptop...to no avail. This hub is just a piece of bleep.
So don't waste your money. Protect your devices and steer clear of this hub. And remember to always safely remove your usb devices.

reasons why the product rocks:
1. 4 ports. could i use 6? definitely. will 4 do when i'm travelling? you bet.
2. mini usb--one of the 4 ports converts into a mini usb hub. versions exist (and i have one on my desk back at the office) that include a dedicated mini usb but--targus's added convertibility feature makes it the perfect friend for travel.
3. flip up port-one of the ports is a flip up which...you might not thing you need...until you have the opportunity to use one.
five stars, love it, will live in my laptop bag and probably getting another for my home office.
