Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Turtle Beach Santa Cruz PCI Sound CardCustomer Review: 5.1 OUTPUT... not PROCESSING Summary: 2 Stars
I was misled by the box's labeling which stated that it was dolby digital compatible... It is, if you send the digital signal to an external dolby digital processor. It does not decode dolby digital itself. I recommend going with a Creative Sound Blaster. You get the card that does the dolby digital decoding itself for just a little bit more money. If you don't care about that aspect of signal processing, then it would be a good card for you.
Customer Review: horrible Summary: 1 Stars
Bought it one and half year ago from Circuit city. Used it mainly for general computer work, not gaming. When I upgraded to a newer machine and try to install it on it, has problem with driver on XP Media Center edition, can not record MIDI from my Yamaha keyboard, and they don't provide support for it any more. What kind of business is this vendor in? Only one and half year later, they don't provide any technical support for their products.
Customer Review: Best card I have ever owned Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Soundblaster 16 PCI from Creative Labs. It was total garbage. Any legacy app I had would not work very well. Some would cause my system to reboot. I took it back to the store and exchanged it for the Santa Cruz. What a difference! It was easy to install, great documentation and loaded with extras. The sound is very high quality. I haven't had a single problem, with sound, since.
Customer Review: Same problems with my first card! Summary: 1 Stars
This card is horrible. I had an SBLive 5.1 X-Gamer. The SBLive sounds way better then this. I put in this card and played a song. It was like comparing VHS to DVD. (SBLive was the DVD) I have Windows Xp and it sounds horrible! I decided to humor myself, so i started GTA3. (The cutscenes had weird problems) I triggered and cutscene and geuss what! SAME PROBLEM! This card was a load ....
Customer Review: RECORDING DIGITAL AUDIO Summary: 3 Stars
THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THE CARD IS THAT WHEN I RECORD DIGITAL AUDIO USING DIGITAL ORCHESTRATOR PRO THROUGH THE SANTA CRUZ, THROUGH A MICROPHONE, IT DISTORTS THE AUDIO. DON'T TRY TO USE TECH SUPPORT EITHER. THE ONLY CONTACT WITH TECH SUPPORT IS VIA EMAIL. THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. I KNOW MORE THAN THEM.
