Bought this one to replace my Sound Blaster Live I was using on a Win7 HTPC. The sound blaster had driver issues with the new OS so after reading many reviews I settled on this one for price and features. I have been a fan of SB cards for many years (15+) and I was rather disappointed that they were unable to provide acceptable drivers for Vista and the new Win7. After reading many forums and checking around I found out that Turtle Beach has been doing an excellent job of keeping their drivers updated for the newer OS's out there. IMO you really can't go wrong with their cards for Music and TV viewing.Customer Review: From Analog to Digital Audio the Difference is Priceless

I previously had my computer connected to my home theater via a RCA to 3.5mm cable. Through that connection I heard a lot of static and buzzing, which is the reason I was looking to switch to a digital connection. So i needed an optical connection on my sound card which I didn't have, until I found this. I connected it to a pci slot and had it running in literally 2 minutes after installing the drivers. I'm not lying when I say that I went through about half of my music library just to enjoy the sound. It's amazing (via the optical connection at least, i haven't tested the other connections).Customer Review: Poor Driver Support (No 64 bit Drivers)

Come on Turtle Beach!!! 64bit OS's have been out for over 5 years not and you still don't have a 64bit driver for this card that hasn't changed much since 2001? No where in the Amazon write up or on the box of the product or even in there help forums do they say there is no 64bit support. Heck the installer even runs without throwing an error. I spent 2 hours troubleshooting and to find out there are no 64bit drivers. Gah, buy the audiology.Customer Review: Why it's so cheap

This should not be purchased for a 5.1 DIGITAL speaker system unless you only want to hear TWO speakers, use headphones or allow the card' SOFTWARE to recreate " a "virtual 5.1" effect using 2 speakers or headphones." whatever that means...

I bought the Turtle Beach Riviera for 3 reasons. First, I've found Turtle Beach puts out good products at a reasonable price. Second, this particular unit had all the features I needed and was within my budget. Third, I needed to upgrade my sound card to work properly with Windows 7 and this was one of the first to advertise that it was Windows 7 ready. I've had it for several weeks now and give it a 5 all the way around.
