Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TRENDnet TE100-S5 5-Port Ethernet Switch (5 x 10/100Mbps Auto-MDIX RJ-45 Ports)Customer Review: Works great for splitting an ethernet connection! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this because an ethernet jack in my office area was broken, so I needed to split one connection into two. Each ethernet jack here has to be signed up for use, and then an IP address is assigned to the computer, so I honestly wasn't expecting it to work. However, all I had to do was plug the switch into the wall jack and then run an ethernet cable to each of the computers, and now the internet works very well on both of them! It was so easy to install, no discs or set-up of any kind. The printing here is also on a network, and even that works very well on the computers connected to the switch. The instructions that come with it say it is not for splitting an ethernet connection, but it works GREAT fot this. And at this price, it's a bargain-- it is definitely worth buying and trying out and I highly recommend it.

Wanted to use this little item to split internet connection from a Netgear HDX101 powerline adapter located behind my media cabinet. Needed internet access to Blu-Ray player, DirectTV receiver, XBOX 360, and AVR receiver. Didn't know if it would work with a powereline adapter. As another reviewer has noted, the literature with the switch says it will only allow 1 internet connection. This is WRONG! I am now running 4 internet devices off the switch instead of a single device at the powerline adapter. Had spoke with 3 Netgear tech support types who said it could not be done in the manner I describe, that I would need an additional HDX101 for each add'l internet device. One $20 switch vs 3 add'l HDX101's at $65 ea??? Pretty simple math!!
Great product!! Just plug and Play!!

I bought this to split the ethernet connection for my work computer in two so I can browse the web on my personal laptop at the same time. As stated previously, set up is simple and is true plug and play. You have to remember to have an extra 2 ethernet cables. Your source ethernet cable from the wall goes into the switch and one cable comes out of the switch to your work computer and the other to your personal computer. It doesn't matter which jacks they go in. The switch detects the input source and then makes all the other jacks output sources. I thought there might be comapny firewall issues, etc. but I've had no problems at all for weeks now and the browser speed is more than adequate. I don't download so I can't comment on those speeds. This is an excellent value for the price.
Customer Review: No problems for two years now Summary: 5 Stars
well, maybe I am lucky or maybe the things just work--maybe both. i've read a bunch of the other reviews and can't say anything bad about this gadget, i have three of them daisy chained to one another, one which is downstairs that feeds the two upstairs, and each one of my kid's rooms (four) are attached to it as well as the HD DVD, BluRay, Xbox, 2 PS2 players (one japanese), and then also the three computers that normally are set in front of the tv while the kids work on homework. so, being a digital family as we are, for the money I think we have a great set up, and I just bought a fourth one of these to chain in some more rooms here in the house and their equipment therein. easy set up and lightweight, very nice little switch.

We ordered this item when we got a new Sony Blu-ray player. We already have a Moxi DVR which has to be connected to the internet so when we got the blu-ray player which has Netflix, BD Live and several other features that need internet connection we got the Trendnet 5-port ethernet switch so we could hook up both devices and have several ports still left for use if we add anything else. We have had the Trendnet for about a month and it works great! Arrived quick, hook up was very easy, excellent price compared to most others. It is plastic, but good thick plastic. It is bright blue, be better if it was black, but I have it mounted on the back of the TV so no one sees it anyway. I recommend it for quality and price.
