Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TRENDnet 54 Mbps Wireless G Broadband Router TEW-432BRP (Blue)Customer Review: WAN light turns off (and internet stops working) when i touch the device Summary: 2 Stars
This device is brand new, i just opened it and installed it yesterday 11/6/2010.
Unfortunately, the WAN light is very instable. when I move or pick up the device, the WAN light goes off. sometimes the WAN light comes back on, other times i have to squeeze the device or tap it a bit to make the WAN light come back on. if i get the WAN light on, and dont' touch it, i can access the internet without a problem.
however if move it to plug in another wire for example, the WAN light will go off and may not come back on untill i fiddle with the device for a while.
i've just submitted a helpdesk ticket on trendnet website, and we'll see what they say. has anyone else have this issue before?
Customer Review: Issues with Installation and Connectivity Summary: 2 Stars
I believe the negative aspect of the product is more important for the readers, the package included with an installation guide and a CD. I was unable to install it myself even I followed the instructions given. I had to spend lots of time to get this install; finally I got help from the customer service and go it installed. The customer service was fairly good and they gave totally different steps for installation. I think they better include those steps as the installation guide. I know for sure, if I have to install this again, I need customer service help. There is no continuous connectivity, after one or two days I always have to reboot the router. I'm disappointed with this product and do not recommend for others.
Customer Review: Looks great on paper... Summary: 1 Stars
...but there is a reason it was $15. This router is junk. I have used several TRENDnet wireless products in the past, and have been very satisfied. This router however (I've tried two of them now), drops connection, creates its own IP conflicts out of thin air, and is generally more successful as a paperweight. It seems that when the wireless decides to work, it's a local Network connection only, and when the Internet decides to work, I have nor wireless connectivity. Do yourself a favor. Even if something else you were looking at is five times the cost of this thing, get the something else. I am currently writing this as my wife is boxing up the router so I can send it back for a refund, no exchange this time.
Customer Review: best inexpensive wireless router around Summary: 5 Stars
I own 3 of these wireless routers. Awesome. Never had any problems and the tech support (I always use tech support for set up) is beyond belief (meaning GREAT).
I know the speed is not up to the expensive ones but to just try wireless or if you want something cheap that is going to do the job & be trouble free/like for a parent or something, then this is the unit.
Re set up. DO NOT use the manual. It is unclear and can get screwed up. Just call their 800 number and ALWAYS I was put through to a tech in less than 2 minutes. The techs had me hit a few buttons and guided me to locking down the device (which is essential) and I was up and running in less than 5 minutes!
Love this product.
Customer Review: frequently dropped connections Summary: 1 Stars
I've had this TRENDnet TEW-432BRP router for several weeks, and I don't think I've gone more than a day without having to unplug and reboot it. Even though my computer is in the same room (so signal strength isn't a problem), the router frequently drops my connection and reboots itself, leaving me without internet access for a few minutes at a time (it reboots very slowly). Sometimes it manages to restore the connection again, but many times I have to manually unplug my cable modem and the router, then wait for both of them to reboot before the connection is restored. Needless to say, this gets annoying when it happens several times a day. I did not have this problem with my previous router.
