Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Transcend JetFlash V30 - 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive TS8GJFV30 (Black)

Customer Review: Defective by Design
Summary: 1 Stars

This drive seems to require special drivers to work with Windows. I don't know what else could be the cause of constant "write protection" errors.

I've tried all the solutions suggested online, including the mFormat utility that wipes all data from the drive, and I still can't save anything to it.

Their support site is useless. It's tedious to browse through the documentation, and requesting support requires filling out a form with dozens of irrelevant fields.

I'm never buying a Transcend product again.

Customer Review: Nice USB Flash drive
Summary: 5 Stars

It's a flash drive, there really isn't a whole lot of difference between various models, as long as they work. There is a little blue light on this flash drive that lights up when connected to your computer, and the light will flash when data is being transferred to/from the drive. I like that.

8GB is a LOT of storage. It's equal to about 2 DVDs or 11 CDs. Works fine in 3 different computers and a Playstation3.

The case is glossy black plastic and looks nice. Also comes with a lanyard.

Customer Review: vista readyboost supported, Fast enough for the price, lifetime warranty.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this from here at Amazon. First looked at it, this one is tiny. I first tried vista readyboost and it just worked without any problems. It just works without any U3 nuisance. No nonsense pre-loaded and if you want you download and use it. Here is the real speed test result. I copied 230 MP3 files in 60 folders with 1.38GB and it took 5 minutes. Then wrote back to disk and it took less than 2 minutes. Real write speed: 4.8MB/sec, real read speed: 13.7MB/sec. I will recommend this to anyone. 8GB is lot of storage.

Customer Review: Reliable and fast usb drive
Summary: 5 Stars

The Transcend 4GB flash drive works great and is a very reliable and durable drive. It works flawlessly in any machine to which it is placed and I have placed it even in some very old machines in our school lab dating back to the 80's with no problems. Additionally, it is small in size when compared to most other flash drives, making it easy to be placed alongside other usb drives and usb cables when ports are next to each other.

Customer Review: Compared to Kingston...slower with my use.
Summary: 3 Stars

I have Transend SD cards (Class 6) that I put in USB holders and they are fast and similiar in transfer speed as avi's to a USB..Kingston

I bought 2 of the 8gb USB and I noticed they are slower than the Kingston USB.
I transfer avi's to them.

Anyone else notice this?

Update...also reads slower....with my Media Player.

Because of this I would not buy another.
