I purchased this combo for two reasons, I wanted a larger SD card and I needed a reader that could read the SDHC cards. Both work great! I plugged the reader into my external USB hub and my laptop had it up and running in less than a minute. I saw one review that said they were having problems with the SD card appearing "locked". I also experienced this, but it turned out the SD card had a very loose locking switch and every time I inserted the card, the reader would engage the lock. I have never found much use in the card locks, so I just taped the lock in the unlocked position, problem solved.

I got this product for the reader, but to get a 8 GB SD card with it makes it a truly great deal. The reader is wonderful -- it's compact, and it worked right away on my XP laptop. This laptop, by the way, wouldn't recognize my main reader (which accepts a wider range of cards), so I was pleased that it worked within moments of my plugging it in. It's fast, too. Love the compact size -- I can stick it into my camera bag easily, so I can easily transfer files, no matter where I am. I use it only for standard sized SD and SDHC cards, but it also takes the micro SDs, which is a nice feature to allow transfer of files from my cell phone.Customer Review: Very useful little gadget for mini-computers

I got this little USB to accompany my ASUS Eee PC 901 It is the perfect accessory. With a little legwork you can achieve the same functionality as a DVD drive at a fraction of the space and cost. With this little gem I was able to change the OS on my EEE while waiting to get my tires rotated! I have not had any problems with this item and I would highly recommend it!
The only drawback is that it is so small- it is easy to misplace. Don't put any sensitive data on it! I leave mine at home and only take it out when I need it.

I purchased this reader and card to use with my Canon Xsi.
Most computers with SD card readers will NOT read the SDHC cards.
This reader allows you to plug in your SDHC card into a USB port and access the card.
The speed is incredible! compared to the standard SD card. ( not all devices can use the SDHC)
I use the reader to conserve battery power on my camera, without the reader I have to use the USB cable to the camera and power up the camera to download the images off the card. The card was a bonus as I really wanted the reader, but the SDHC card is a class 6 (very fast) and I use it as well.

I've had this card for two years and two months and never had any trouble with it. The other day I was formatting all my SD and CF cards so that they would be ready to go and this single card just wouldn't work. My card reader lights up, but nothing happens. I tried two other computers, three different card readers and tried putting it in two different cameras (both said Memory Card Error). It looks like it finally croaked. I'm giving it three stars because it did last me for two years and doesn't deserve one star, but this isn't the oldest flash card and is the first to die so it doesn't deserve any more than three.
