Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Transcend 8 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card TS8GSDHC6Customer Review: Just what you'd expect... value, speed, 8 GB. Summary: 5 Stars
I did some research and found this deal on amazon the best on the web for 8GB or less. If you go bigger with the same brand it seems to be just as good of a deal for the price.
This memory card has worked well for me. I don't use a cable when transferring files from my camera to my computer, I just pull the card out and push it into the media card reader. This card has withstood multiple insertions in and out of the camera and the computer, and it has held up well-- that means it's durable.
The class 6 is substantially faster than the regular SD card I was using at first, and I needed at least this type of speed to be able to shoot video or burst mode with my DSLR. It has been plenty of speed for me, but I haven't used anything faster. I imagine if you are shooting extended video clips with your camera or if you are into sports photography where you need like 40 burst shots in a row, than you might want to go faster. Otherwise this one works great. Recommended.
Customer Review: THE TRANSCEND SD CARD CAN CRASH YOUR COMPUTER. Summary: 1 Stars
When I inserted the new "Transcend" brand 8GB SD card into my card reader, my computer froze/crashed. . . Every time!! My Windows is up-to-date with the latest SP and fixes from Microsoft. If I inserted the card into my camera or music device, the device displayed a warning that the card was bad. I contacted 'marketplace' seller CTCStore, and they told me to return the card, at my expense and they would evaluate it. Then it occurred to me to try to use a camera to re-format the card. This appeared to work, so I tried one more time to get my computer to accept the card. This time there was no problem.
So I wonder was the new card unformatted or did it contain some garbage piece of software?
Why would a memory card be delivered in an unformatted condition?
Why was this not mentioned in the limited documentation with the SD card?
Should a new memory card be delivered in a condition that will crash my computer?
BEWARE of Transcend SD.
Customer Review: Might be Good Product but not for my purpose Summary: 3 Stars
Having recently purchased an Acer One Netbook, I was horrified by the slow speed of the machine. This must be a throwback from the 1990s ('80's?)! I complained to the company where I bought it and was told that the Windows 7 Starter was part of the problem, the other problem being lack of memory. They said if I bought Windows 7 Home Premium and a large SD, the card would act as virtual RAM and it would speed right up.
I received both products quickly and packaged well from Amazon, but I'm still wondering what Win7 upgrade is good for, and the Transcend 8 GB card absolutely refuses to work with my computer for anything other than storage. If all it's good for is storage I'd rather use it in my camera, so that's where it is. It does work fine there. I'm back to a 4GB SD card for the netbook, which doesn't seem to speed it up at all. So that much $$ poorer, I guess I've learned a lesson - your computer goes at the speed it goes. Period. Don't expect anything more.
Customer Review: Great Product/Great Value Summary: 5 Stars
This flash memory card is a very good product. Class 6 is the newest/best type of Flash Memory available (as of 2009). It holds over 3500 images on my Cannon SD 790IS camera (10 mega pixels), or nearly 5 hours of video on high resolution.
Transferring the images to my HP Desktop was very fast and easy with no loss of data.
PROS: lots of storage, even at high resolution on my camera I can take hours of video or thousands of pictures.
value. many people feel that they cannot trust an "off-brand" product. For example, if they have a Sony camera they must have a Sony memory card, even if it is twice the price. Even though this product is not a Sony/HP make, it does a fantastic job for less $$.
CONS: there really aren't any, maybe price? 8 GB is a lot more than most people need but the price on AMAZON.COM was cheaper than 4 GB offerings at most other stores.
OVERALL: I would definately recommend this product to anyone.
Customer Review: Fast & Cheap Summary: 5 Stars
8 gigs of Class 6 storage space for my Olympus E-P1. It's fast (which is awesome, since I shoot RAW stills and some video), it's cheap (which is rad since I'm a student), and it's from a brand that I've never had a problem with (pretty sweet, since I love stuff that works).
I picked up two of these kids for shooting, since there's no buzzkill like having to stop in the middle of a concert, hike, tour, etc. and have to turn off the camera, unload the memory card, stow it, and put in a fresh one. Or worse, deleting pictures one-by-one to make room for more. These hold around 550 RAW pictures straight outta the E-P1. That's PLENTY to edit down later without having to worry about going through in-camera while shooting, trying to decide whether to keep or delete pictures so you can take more. Trust me. Just open the box, shove it in your camera, and blast away.
Do yourself a favor and buy these. I want you to. Your camera wants you to.
Do it.
