Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Transcend 16 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card with Card Reader TS16GSDHC6-S5WCustomer Review: Great Capacity, Great Price Summary: 5 Stars
I usually purchase Sandisk or Lexar memory cards, but I needed some major capacity for my new Canon TX1 and the other manufacturers had not come out with a 16GB version or were priced too high. So at first I doubted the quality of the Transcend 16GB SDHC card, but I have to say all of my concerns have been lifted away. I will likely buy more Transcend products in the future.
The TX1 can eat up memory, but these cards keep me going. I bought two of them. They work great with camera and the transfer speed on downloads is great. I also use them in my Samsung NC10 netbook. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Good card for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this after reading the review on Tom's Hardware [...]
which said that they managed to get 19.7 MB/s read throughput and 15.9 MB/s on writes, even though it's just classified as a Class 6 device.
The results for the the card I received were not quite as impressive:
Warning: Only 15317 of 15318 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 8.83 MByte/s
Reading speed: 13.7 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
Still, very good for a Class 6 device though, so I can't really complain (except that that older versions of this card were cheaper AND faster!).
Customer Review: Good card, marginal reader Summary: 4 Stars
I got this card along with the reader because it was suggested by the reviewers of the vidcam I bought. Turns out that the reader only plugs into my laptop's USB port one way - upside down directly into the table top under the PC. The only way to use this reader with my computer is to buy a separate extension cable. And the card doesn't work with the old reader that I already had, so I'm sort of stuck getting that cable. The card does what cards do, which is good, and I can copy files directly from the vidcam using its USB cable, so this reader isn't really necessary right now. In short, I'd recommend against spending the money on the reader and just get the memory card by itself.
Customer Review: Excellent value, works great with my Canon Vixia HF10! Summary: 5 Stars
I've used this for weeks with my Canon Vixia HF10 camcorder to record high definition video files (AVCHD format). It works great - and I'm very happy with the price. I bought one card by itself and one with the reader - combined with my onboard memory I should be set for most projects. I really like to use the reader since it leaves my camcorder free - and it's so much handier (for some reason by design the camcorder won't run off batteries when it is downloading files, so you have to plug it in to the wall outlet and also plug it into the computer with a USB 2.0 cable; with the little card reader all I do is pop out the card and plug it into the reader and plug that into the USB outlet).
Customer Review: Terrific usefulness but cheaper separately Summary: 4 Stars
At the time of this writing, it's actually cheaper to buy the memory card (with frustration-free packaging) Transcend 16 GB SDHC SD Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS16GSDHC6E [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] and USB reader separately Transcend TS-RDS6W SD/MMC/XD Card Reader (presuming you use Amazon Prime).
Edit to reflect the passage of time: prices since have changed, so as of this writing (Sept '10) the above no longer is true. But still it's probably worthwhile to check to make sure.
