Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Transcend 16 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card with Card Reader TS16GSDHC6-S5W

Customer Review: GOOD BUY - Transcend 16GB SDHC + Compact Card Reader
Summary: 5 Stars

This product gives the versatility of a SDHC card that can be used in lots of devices like Digital Photo Cameras, some MP3 players, and others.
(Just be sure your device supports the newer SDHC format, many only support the older lower capacity SD).

Also, when used with the Compact Card reader, it can be used like if it were a USB memory stick, altough because of the way the SDHC card is inserted on the reader, it's not to be used in agressive environments or applications.

Read/Write speeeds are up to its Class 6, which are good enough for me.

16 GB is a LOT of storage space! Almost four DVD's full of files can be stored in this little piece of plastic/silicon.

Have used this product for a couple of weeks without problems, but it's still too early to judge its long term reliability.

Overall, I think that the price per GB, the speed and the convinience makes it a good value.

Customer Review: Size matters!
Summary: 5 Stars

I can remember buying an IBM Microdrive, 1GB, $170, when that was the value in compact flash. How times have changed.
I purchased this card for my new Canon G10. The G10 allows me to always have a camera handy that can take photos I can sell, but without lugging my D300 and lenses. I shoot raw, and even with this 14.7MP camera, the 16GB card registers on the camera as room for 756 photos. Size matters! I can take a trip and (with possible in-camera purging of duds) have room for weeks of shots. It's probably overkill since an 8GB card is never full in the D300 (12MP).
The other great thing about this is the included card reader. I thought it would be handy with my old laptop. What I realized is that the built-in card reader in my HP desktop does not support SDHC. So the combination provides great value all around. Add the ability, in a pinch, to use the card and reader as a large memory stick and it's a triple play.

Customer Review: Watchout for ordering from Thememstore!
Summary: 5 Stars

The item is great! However the vendors and service...

First, Thememstore doesn't sell this product as displayed. Instead they sent the memory chip plus an additional USB adapter - one with 2 plastic covers instead of the compact kind shown here in the pictures.

Second, their shipping took 10 days to get out of OR, let alone get to me! Amazon claims they have an a-to-z guarantee, but their claim form doesn't give the option of claiming it was delivered late (or what the result of that would be).

Thirdly, the price for this product was volatile when I ordered - I purchased the product from Amazon for maybe 75 bucks, then a month later ordered it again and Amazon didn't have it but Thememstore did, and for more than 10 less, but with required shipping costs. Ah, technology.

Next time I'll definitely wait until Amazon has it back in stock!

Customer Review: Fast, large and so far, very reliable
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this card and my new 10.2MP Nikon D80 for 3 weeks and both work very well together. The card holds 1,200 photos (I shoot RAW only) and since I use Auto-Bracketing, I really only get 400 unique shots per card. That is a few hours for me. Quick tip- as soon as you get a memory card (any card), format it on the camera (not the computer) and then ONLY use it with that camera. Switching cards between cameras will sometimes corrupt them.

I like the media card reader that comes with it since a lot of older computers with card readers will not recognized an SDHC card. With or without the card reader, this card is wicked fast too. My 2 GB SD card would take 45 minutes to offload the images on the built in card reader. This card and reader can offload 2 GB of images in 90 to 120 seconds on the same machine!

I liked this card so much, I bought two more last week.

Customer Review: Convenient but poorly shaped
Summary: 3 Stars

The card is fine. It's an SD card - what else can you say about an SD card except that they're great, small, convenient, etc?

The reader, however, is whacko. First of all, because the card is an HC card, you have to use this (or another HC) reader. Your year-old card reader won't do. That seems fine so far, but if you have a Macbook - and I hear a few people do - you'll find this reader is too wide to fit in either USB port if the other USB port is in use. This is a minor annoyance unless you are using an Apple external monitor (or any other monitor that requires one of your USB ports for complete funtionality) - which I am - and then you are forced to unhook your computer from your monitor in order to use this card. See what I mean? Idiocy.

If you don't get annoyed with needless inconvenience and crappy design, this is the card reader for you!
