Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TDK 16X DVD+R 100PK Spindle

Customer Review: Only compatible with some drives, at low speeds.
Summary: 1 Stars

Although the box says TDK, as someody else mentioned, the manufacturer is Ritek. First 2 discs in the Pioneer drive from my laptop produced coasters. The maximum write speed accepted was 2.4x, although the drive itself is much faster and works very well with other brands. The resulting discs would not play in any DVD drive I tried.
I then tried to write a third disc on an external Toshiba drive, which routinely writes other discs at 8x, and I got a whopping 4x write speed with the "TDK". At least the Toshiba produced a disc that was readable in other drives.
If you are lucky and your drive is compatible with these discs, fine, if not, you get coasters.

Customer Review: These would not burn for me AT ALL!!!

I recently purchased a 100 spindle of these dvds. When I opened the pack there was a fine white powder on the top of the spindle. I cleaned the first disc and put it in to record. It worked for about 15 seconds and then I got a message that the disc was bad or needed to be cleaned. It locked up my dvd recorder. I had to unplug the whole thing just to get the disc out. I tried 3 more from the top of the spindle and same thing happened everytime. I then took some from the middle and again the EXACT same problem. I'm sending these back. I've been using the Verbatim brand for the past 3 years and I haven't had a problem. I will never stray again.

Customer Review: OK for family videos and movies

It doesn't tell you this in the description but these are 2 hour discs. It's works fine for a movie but not for wrestling Pay-Per-views
. I have been trying to get discs to record my WCW PPV tapes. Each tape, except for 5 of them is 2 hour and 49 minutes long. Most disc are made for 120 minutes only. You have been warned. If it says 4.7
GB, that means that they are 120 minutes. WCW was a wrestling company
that was sold to the WWF in 2001. They never released anything on DVD
because they didn't see it becoming as big as it has. Now the only
thing that me and other fans have are these tapes.

Customer Review: Not the TDK quality you may be expecting...
Summary: 1 Stars

I must agree with review of Tom S. These DVD+R disks are some of the worst media I've used. I have high quality Samsung drives in my system and never had a problem burning DVD+R media (well, maybe an occasional coaster). With these disks I get a failed burn with DVDFab Platinum on 3 out of 4 disks. This is absolutely ridiculous! Worse yet, even after a successful burn I am not guaranteed the disk will work in my Sony DVD player. If you are looking for TDK quality, look elsewhere. I suspect these disks are re-brands. I will avoid TDK from now on as they have failed to stand up to their once great reputation.

Customer Review: Better Than Expected
Summary: 5 Stars

Due to limitations with my computer system, burning dvds at 16X speeds often result in bad uncompleted dvds if the blanks are not of the highest quality (that includes Memorex). I usually burn at 4X and 8X in order to not create so many useless coasters. Decided to try a few of these at 16X - WOW not a single mistake yet. I'm back down to 8X with these, no use taking chances. Am impressed with the quality and better thickness and stiffness of this brand of blank dvd+r discs so far. Only downside to 100-count spindles is that they are heavier than 50-count spindles without any extra case strength.
