I'm not sure why so many people seem to have had trouble with these discs. I would imagine it's a few of the following things: Their burner needs replaced, their computer is too old/slow or they are trying to do something crazy (overburn, etc.).
I've bought TDK several times, and these specific DVD's twice now, I haven't had a bum in the lot (I've used 125+ out of the 200 I bought.) I would imagine that if you have problems with *any* CD/DVD, it can be attributed to your computer, not the discs themselves. Yes, you can get a dud, but it's usually physically damaged. I've burned thousands of discs on multiple computers and the only time I've ever run across problems was when there was an issue with the burner or the software.

when i received my shipment not only did it have small variations in pakaging, but it only burns 4x not at the advertised 16x, as described on the packaging and on the actual disk itself, my dvd-r burns up to 16x, when i put the disk in the only options im offered are 2.4x and 4x.. the first 4 i tried did burn so im not sure how many will turn out coasters. i thought i was getting a good after christmas deal, now i realize they were on sale because someone was trying to get rid of an overstock of 4x at no loss. i feel like this was a blatant attempt to dump a bad product on a vulneral online purchase, because they know people are not likly to return the item as it is too much hassle. epic fail, i will never buy tdk again.Customer Review: Quality Is Not A Factor Here

I heard how TDK and Verbatim were the cream of the crop, so I got these. While people are right that you don't get a lot of coasters the problem is that only a dvd drive on a computer is going to read them if burned at a decent speed. When burning at 6x (slowest setting on my 16x burner) my PS2,XBOX, and three dvd players have had a very hard time reading from these discs. I bought some Sony +r that are 1x-8x since they were cheap and at my local Wal Mart, they shame TDK. I've tried many of the cheaper brands such as HP, Memorex, KHypermedia,Sony, and Phillips (can't remember others now) and only Memorex was worse than TDK. I will stick to Sony and/or Phillips; never a problem with Sony and minimal with Phillips.Customer Review: horrible product

I am 110% agreeing with Tom S. about this product. It is of very, very, very poor quality. I bought this exact same product in store not too long ago, burned 4 discs and only 1 (yes 1!) out of the 4 played on my DVD player. I have 4 different brand DVD players at home and the 3 defective discs didn't work on any of them! With those odds, I am sure that a majority of the discs in the pack are defective. So buyers, buy at your own risk!
I do recommend the Memorex brand DVD+Rs. I've used those in the past and every single disc in the pack worked with no problems.Memorex DVD+R 16x 4.7GB 100 Pack Spindle

first stack I recived had the spindle broken and had 14 damaged disks the rest I started burning on rest,some burned at 16x most burned at 8x and out of 86 I had left I tossed about 20 from bad burns and this is from a new burner that burned flawlesly before this batch
amazon sent me replacmemnt even thought I never asked for it and then asked me to send the fist batch back thought they send a prepayed return label it would of helped if the read I on the letter I send to inform them about the damage but I did not ask for a replacment and did tell that I was buring the good disks,
so I got nothing to return
hopefuly they fix this issue as I not paying for somting I never ordered
