Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TDK 16X DVD+R 100PK Spindle

Customer Review: They are really bad
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought these TDKs when my sonys ran out. They were way cheaper than the sonys and i've used tdk's cd-rs which worked great. But tdk's dvdrs really suck. I tried burning an ISO on the first disc and i got an error. Then i burned another disc which completed but my ps2 couldn't read it. Then i burned a movie and it wouldn't play in my dvd player. Then i tried to burn another one and my ps2 didn't read it. I can hear my burner struggling to burn these discs. The discs also seem alot different than my sonys. The TDKs seem alot thinner and cheaper. I guess you get what you pay for. But i still wasted $25, which i am really mad about. Now i have 96 dvdrs just sitting there, they might as well go in the trash. Useless. It is better to spend the extra money for a good brand, at least you won't be like me and spend $25 for absolutely nothing.

Customer Review: TDK DVDs are great!
Summary: 5 Stars

TDK DVDs are great. It's the shipping that sucks. Every spindle of TDK, or any other kind of discs I've received from Amazon have been badly packed, and the spindls and cases have arrived broken, or even shattered. The Amazon shipping department hasn't a clue how to pack heavy, delicate plastic 100 Disc spindles. They use a minimal amount of packing material on only the TOP side of the item. The bottom side is against bare cardboard box, so they smash the first time they roll down one of those 20 foot roller ramps and suddenly stop up agaist something hard, and another, heavier box rams that one.

Fortunately, I have empty spindles that I put the discs from the smashed Amazon-shipped spindles into. The Prices and service are great. The spindle cases don't survive the trip.

Customer Review: A bought lesson
Summary: 1 Stars

I normally do extensive research before I purchase anything. I guess I didn't research enough before I bought these discs. Half of them have failed. Some worked for a while and then failed, others never got out of the starting gate. I have one of the best DVD players made so the machine was not the problem. To be fair, further research suggested that I should have used DVD-R instead of +R. After wasting 20 bucks I did some more digging and discovered a brand called 'Taiyo Yuden' as most recommended. I saw that Amazon does sell these and I'm glad because I'd never heard of them. I also read that when burning a disc no other programs should be running. The TDK discs are continuing to fail little by little. I will try the other brand next time and be more careful when burning.

Customer Review: 20 % FAILURE Rate, What happened to the quality that tdk USED to be?
Summary: 1 Stars

TDK USED to be good stuff. I bought a 100 Pack July 2009, About 1 in 5 will NOT burn (even made me think there may have been a problem with my burners), and the further down the pack, the higher the failure rate.
I gave up on wasting my time with these with about 20 left in the pack.

I used El Cheapo Fry's GQ brand that worked great until they stopped selling them, tried these TDK garbage until I couldn't stand the wasted time any more. Now using Phillips brand without a dud yet. Also HP branded worked well, just not TDK.

So many well known Brands that HAD good reputations have gone bad, (Kingston is another) you just cannot rely on any ratings over a few month old now.

DO NOT BUY THESE, TDK is no longer a good quality product.

Customer Review: Bad discs
Summary: 1 Stars

I ordered these both because of the price and because I was under the impression that TDK was a good company. Well these discs are terrible!!!. If you try to put 4 gig or more (and remember these are for 4.7 gig) on them you get a media fail error. And I have tried them on 3 different drives with the same result. After getting these I went back to here and saw a review from 2006 that said that he had major problems with them and that if you tried to use the outer part of the disc it would fail. Apparently they have not improved them since that time either. Out of say 10 discs I might get 3-4 that actually work. Even dropping the write speed down to 4x doesn't help. Avod these discs if at all possible (unless you are looking for coasters!!)
