Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TDK 16X DVD+R 100PK SpindleCustomer Review: Horror Story Summary: 1 Stars
Unbelievable!
Can a spindle of discs really be this bad? I don't write many reviews but this purchase was such a ripoff I just had to take the time to warn people. I am talking 35% to %45 bad discs!!!! (Will not format. Or, the recorder will say it's formatted but take it out and put it back in - not formatted.) I format on my dvd recorder. I am not trying to format at a high speed. It's all automated. Can you imagine the time I spent trying to figure out what was going wrong? Checking the recorder's manual. Checking everything. I could not believe that many discs were bad! Really, I thought my dvd recorder was going out. Then I thought, what the heck. If the recorder is shot I'm going to replace it anyway. So I stop in at Walmart and buy a 100 disc spindle of Memorex discs. First one in, it's a snap. Format is fine. Try another. No problem. Put in one of these TDK nightmares - will not format. Put in one of the new Memorex. Format fine. Try another TDK garbage disc. Will not format. Put in another new Memorex. No problem. You get the picture. These are an unbelievable ripoff. I have never had a problem like this with discs before in my life. I wish I'd read this review before I bought them. I'd have saved myself a lot of time, trouble, money and frustration.

Update:
I'm done with TDK. The most recent spindle of TDK disks I purchased do not work in my Magnavox recorder either. They cause the unit to screech and fail to record properly. I've switched to Memorex and have no problem.
Something in the manufacturing of these disks has changed, and my Magnavox recorder DOES NOT like it.
=========
I've purchased about 6 of these spindles from Amazon, and they have worked without fail in my Magnavox DVD recorder/player connected to my TV, and my Sony external burner.
This last spindle, however, did not impress me. They burn okay on my Sony burner, but when I try to use a blank disk in my Magnavox recorder they screech when they turn. They actually feel different than the previous disks, and weigh a tenth of an ounce more.
I had a few blanks left on my previous spindle, and they work fine on the recorder, so it's a TDK quality/manufacturing issue. I called TDK tech support, and they offered no solution, except to return the disks with me paying the shipping.
I'm trying another spindle, so we will see. Last chance for TDK.
Customer Review: Great Quality - Low Price - Better than Big Brabds Summary: 5 Stars
Before I purchased this, I read customer comments - most of which were gripes and complaints and one fabricated story about the layers pealing off - LOL. Maybe these are just folks who happened to get a bad batch - that happens with darn near any product ending up with some defective bacthes getting by inspectors.
Having said that - I took the chance and ordered the TDK 100 DVD+R pack because I couldnt afford anything else. I was scared to even try it after the package arrived. I expected at best - just so-so quality, something i could tolerate. HOWEVER - I WAS AMAZED AT THE QUALITY PICTURES It delivered. I collect my favorite Tv shows off Tv - and WOW it out performed Memorex, Sony and another top brand (cant recall at the moment) Blank recordable DVDs.
I say ignore the complaints - if you get a bad batch just ask to send it back for exchange. The same you would do with any product. My rule is if after a product as been replaced and even the replacement sucks - THEN - ask for a refund. Give a product a chance first.
Customer Review: this is very unfair Summary: 1 Stars
first i read some of the reviews, but since i had good luck with the first 100 dvd's i purchase from amazon, well you can imagen what happend, i bought another 100 and im very sorry, so far y have a defect ratio of 50%, this means i burn 8 disc and got 4 costers, stay away from this product, also the real manufacturer of my batch is "DAXON", wich i dont know if whe can sue somebody, i tought i bought tdk, but not, im very disopointed, also amazon should so something about this, in other countries, they put the name of the manufacturer also, you actually know what your getting, for example, the brand states Verbatim but the are manufacturer by Taiyo, and you know this before you make the purchase, this kind of poor management is what kills companys.
fallow up: testing at diferent speeds i found out they work great at half speed (8x) and it takes arround 6 or 7 minutes to burn, wich is not bad
just in case somebody else has the same problem, you can try burning at a lower speed
Customer Review: It's the packaging, fellas!! Summary: 5 Stars
You offered FREE SHIPPING and an excellent price for these blank DVDs, which I have already been using for more than a year, and are in my opinion the BEST DVDs on the market! But you failed on the packaging! Your warehouse people put the heavy spindle pack of 100 disks into a box that didn't match the shape, then padded it with lightweight, vulnerable air bags. First thing that happened during shipping was that the spindle pack, rolling back and forth inside the box, burst all four air bags, leaving only a few small empty plastic envelopes in an otherwise empty carton, with the spindle pack still rolling back and forth, or bouncing up and down. Miraculously, none of the blank DVDs was damaged during their wild ride. I not only recommend, but URGE your shipping people to use WADDED PAPER instead of these air bags for such heavy objects!!!
