Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of TDK 52X CDR 80 Minute / 700MB 100 Pack SpindleCustomer Review: Terrible Terrible Terrible! Wastes Your Time! Summary: 1 Stars
I really should have listened to the other reviews telling you how this product doesn't burn well, how they get so many garbage cds within the spindle. But I read another reviewer's comment saying that it must be the burning program those people were using and not the cds themselves because he had no problem. And since I was using a program that hadn't given me any problems, I thought I'd be fine.
Wrong!!! Oh man, it is such a terrible cd spindle. And I have used 2 burning programs for it. For every cd I have actually burned, there have been 1-4 cds that didn't. And that might seem like nothing, and I might not really care, if it didn't take so long to actually make a cd. So every time it doesn't burn, I waste about 30 minutes of time and energy. Multiply that by the cds that were garbage (26 that I've counted so far and I still haven't used them all) and that's 13 hours of wasted time. 13 hours! That's not to mention the fear I get each time I put in a cd if it'll actually burn or not. I try to be optimistic about it that this time it'll work (which is why I haven't thrown the whole thing out) but I have usually been proven wrong. And as I've moved through the pack, the percentage of successful burns have actually decreased to less than 50%.
Money is one thing. But I would never ever ever waste my time and energy on such an inferior product again. Though the ones it does burn are fine, you'd be wise to stay clear of this cd spindle pack unless you enjoy frustrating yourself and throwing away your time and money.
Customer Review: Never had a problem Summary: 5 Stars
When I first bought a TDK CD-R drive, I gave these CDRs a test drive. I've since bought several dozen spindles because they're very reliable. Of course, I've had the occasional coaster, but then again I've used dozens of CDR brands in my life and have never made it through a spindle without making a few coasters- that's just life.
I've had great success with the TDKs and will likely continue to buy them without any hesitation, but I really feel the need to point out that your experience could be different.
It's important to realise that recordable drives and discs have widely varying compatibility. One type of disc may work nearly perfectly with a certain drive, but fail miserably with another. Even though I've had great success with TDK discs in my TDK drive, I won't be surprised if I change drives and need to switch discs.
My sincere recommendation is that you start with small quantities until you find the right match for your drive. Buy a few single discs or perhaps a ten pack. Once you're confident that the discs are working well with your drive then you can start buying the 50 and 100 spindles. Sure, you may lose the "bulk discount" for the one or two "test" discs but you're saving yourself from losing an entire spindle of possibly incompatible discs.
Customer Review: The worst CD-R experience EVER! Summary: 1 Stars
I recently purchased a 100 pack of these TDK 80min CD-Rs. I burned about 20 discs (burned at a slow 4x speed) only to find out that my time, effort, and money was completely wasted. Nearly every CD had major playback errors. At first I thought it may be the CD player, but after trying the discs in other players, I quickly realized it is not the player. Then I thought maybe there's something wrong with the burner. Nope, because I then burned music to several Verbatim CD-Rs with no playback problems. The problem was, in fact, the CD-Rs. Couldn't believe it, because I always though TDK was a trusted brand, but in this case I got a really bad batch of CD-Rs.
One other note, all of the errors during playback seemed to occur towards the end of the discs (after the 40 minute mark). I thought that was strange too. It seems that there may be something wrong with the dye towards the outer part of the discs??? Whatever the problem, I'll never buy this brand of CD-Rs again.
Customer Review: Absolute Garbage Summary: 1 Stars
I have used many different storage media over the years, and these are quite possibly the biggest "why in the world did I waste $30 dollars on these" mistakes I have ever made. Out of the 25 or so cd's I've burned, literally 3 of them work. I am not even wasting my time with the rest of the spindle; they are all meeting a death so painful I haven't even imagined it yet.
Imagine my surprise, as I place a new cd into my player only to discover "E1". Hm, my player plays EVERYTHING. I try it on another, same. I even try it on the computer, again, nothing. This is a 2 hour donation of my life to TDK I expect to be compensated for. Any time you want to send me a check, TDK.
Save your money, buy something that works; ie, the memorex 50 spindle. 100% success rate with those, 300 cd's down the road and going strong. Absolutely atrocious product, this.
Customer Review: Cheap & Not Good For Max Speed Burning..Slow It Down!! Summary: 4 Stars
After buying a spindle today, I looked on the red TDK wrapper and was shocked to see 'Imation products'. Hmm, so that's why I was able to get a pack of 100 CD-Rs for only $12.99. Ok, but where can we get the REAL TDK products (LOL) ? At any rate, these 'TDK/Imation' CD-Rs worked well for me, and I had very few faulty burns. I read quite a few negative reviews on Amazon, but my experience with this product has been different. You wanna know why ? It's because I burn the CD-Rs at slower speeds for more success. It's a given that these CD-Rs are cheap and not as durable as others, so don't try to burn at 52x, 40x, or 32x. My maximum speed is 8x, and I'm fine with that. If you insist on burning at maximum speeds, don't buy these cheap CD-Rs, but if you don't mind taking almost 5 minutes to create CDs, these discs are a great bargain!!
