Customer Review: InCD software is problemmatic, won't always write

I plugged the DVD into a USB 7-port POWERED hub (two USBs required), turned on my Acer Aspire One w/XP Home Edition (updated regularly online), and it worked; no installation process needed. But it uses InCD, which I don't like. So my 4.37 GB DVD-RWs it can't read due to InCD, not due to the player. Will have to see if InCD has a driver capable of reading blank previously-used DVD-RWs for computers.
Plays my Hamburger Hill movie just fine. I didn't try my Blu-ray, since Blu-ray invades your privacy and makes you register.
Tried to write one file to a CD-RW; it DID NOT work; I've seen this problem many times, with InCD. Tested the problem on two computers, the Acer and my Dell 8400. Westronics did not reply to my request for help sent 9 days ago, so I have since returned the drive. Amazon's return policy is swift, easy. Better than anything I've seen elsewhere. Just log on, say what you want to return, print their special label, put the thing back in its box and drop it in the mailbox for return. No return postage in the US! THANK YOU AMAZON! Funny how simple return policies are so important. But they are!
Now, I don't think the drive is defective, but rather InCD (which they installed internally, you don't have to load the software). For here's what happens: writing to the drive SEEMS to work, but after the disc finishes, the Wizard unexpectedly terminates in an unstated error (not even a code); then the whole drive goes offline. You have to unplug, wait, replug to get the drive recognized again. But when you attempt to write again, the same thing happens. So that's a software compatibility problem, huh.
Westronics Customer Service might just be too busy right now. It was swift and accurate in reply to my first query about an adapter, and I didn't have to write three times to be understood! That in itself is a miracle.
Drive has no setup manual, but there was a savvy note explaining what can go wrong with setup and what to do about it; so the typical compatibility problems with DVD installations are known. No gibberish, either. They suggested you email them with a problem, and I would, too.
Finally: I have a strong bias against DVDs and CDs as media. Can't stand the jewel cases and the fragility; and InCD is a nightmare. So it's even more important that this DVD operated right outta da box with no tinkering.
Will revise this review when I know WHY the write function went wrong.
