Customer Review: Excellent tripod that belies it's cheap price

Having recently moved from the UK to Wyoming, USA I was taken aback by the quality of the night skies here and this has reignited my love of astronomy.
I was looking for a tripod to use with some Celestron binoculars I was buying at the same time from Amazon, and was not disappointed with this unit, (or the Celestron SkyMaster Giant 15x70 Binoculars for that matter).
The tripod is very well made, sturdy and lightweight, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it It also comes with an attachment with a quick release mechanism that means that you can easily swap what you are mounting, (in my case I can swap between mounting my binoculars and digital camera in a few seconds.)
If using this stand with binoculars for star gazing you will be very glad of the tall height this tripod extends to making finding a comfortable position to use your binoculars with this tripod a breeze.
For the price, it's outstanding value.

UPS just delivered this tripod and i played around with this for a while. Lots of features. The tripod allows you to move the camera in almost all possible directions. Perhaps the best feature is when fully collapsed, it stands around 25 inches high. However when fully expanded. It around 6.5 ft high. So now matter how tall you are(unless you play in the NBA) you would be able to extend the height of the camera.
Why did i not give it 5 stars? As many other reviews, i agree that the plastic material used is nowhere near top quality and the entire tripod doesnt feel rock solid. But its solid enough for me(being a beginner).
And yeah, the extra camera mount is a plus. Now i can mounts my other camera on the same tripod real quick without having to remove the mount from first camera.
And yeah, free shipping and no tax is a good reason to buy this from Amazon.

Mine arrived with the ball head broken off. The packing was awful, but that even wasn't the mail reason - the inner Sunpak box was barely deformed. I truly understand that I shouldn't have expected much for 29 bucks, but I expected it at least not to fall apart. The overall quality was very bad as well, the whole thing wobbled too much. And this model does not come with the carrying case. Shortly after I returned it I accidentally came across a similar quality level no-name tripod in Ross, but there were three key differences. First, it costed $5.99 (that is - six bucks) - a fair price for this. Second, it was WAY more stable and sturdy and did not break down so far (couple weeks since I bought it). And third - it came with a nylon case. It is still a very cheap and low quality tripod, but unlike this one, it works, and it costs 1/5th of its price. I use this tripod for still photography. This is the second Sunpak tripod I have owned. the first one was a "660D". This one was ok, but I droped it and broke tha pan head off; So I upgraded to the Sunpak 9002DK, which I like even more. It has has a much better working height (66.06 inch), which is a good selling point for me sence I am 6'-2" tall. The extra height extenson means that I Don't have to bend over to frame my subject in the view finder. This tripod also has retractable spiked feet for seting up on rough terrian,such as in the mountains. Sunpak also supplies a hook on this tripod for appling extra weight between the legs for more stability.The 900DX also has very good leg locks, two levels so you can avoid crooked pictures, and a handy carring handle. The paning action on the head seems smooth to me; However, I don't use the tripod for video...Stills only.
