I'm very satisfied with the product. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with the required electrical box for hooking it up. No problem, just buy a small metal utility box, knock out the hole in the back, and attach it to the fan with two screws and the wires coming in through the hole. Actually, I bought the fan at Home Depot at a few dollars less than the Amazon price.
I thought that I could easily tap into the furnace to power the fan when the furnace was running. However, I have an high-tech propane furnace, and I couldn't find terminals to use. (A humidifier I had installed skirts the problem by using a low voltage current sensor clamped around the blower power wire. I'm using a Suncourt DS100 DuctStat Plug-In Thermostat to control the fan, which works fine and was easy to install.
I have the fan installed near the beginning of a very long duct, and can hear no additional noise at the outlet. In the basement, with the furnace running, and with my ear next to the fan, I can't tell if it running. The only way I can check it is to wait until the furnace stops, which leaves the fan running for a while until the duct temperature drops and it shuts off.
