Customer Review: perfect solution, I can't go back to VGA

I bought this cable because my main workhorse desktop computer died on me. I had to take my multimedia computer out of the living room and set it up in the computer desk. The problem is that my multimedia computer only had VGA & HDMI out ports, and the monitor for my old computer only had VGA and DVI in ports. I tried to live with the VGA connection and cable, but the image isn't as clean, the colors don't pop as much. It was no way to live. Once you have such excellent image quality you can't go back. With this cable my picture looked almost good on the monitor as it did my HDTV. I would say it was well worth the money.Customer Review: Horrible!

First off, I am a Computer Networks/Electronics major at college, so I know what I'm talking about. I understand that if a digital cable works, then it doesn't matter how much it is or what materials it's made of, the picture quality will be exactly the same. That is why I bought this cable. It seemed to have good reviews, so I went with a cheap cable. What a mistake! The HDMI end of the cable literally crumbled in my hand when I went to insert it into my PS3. I have never seen such horrible craftsmanship. If you want a decent cable, go with the Amazon branded cable. I was able to use the cable to output full 1080p to a Dell S2309w 23 inch monitor from both my laptop computer and a Sony playstation 3. I am also able to view Blu-Ray disks at full 1080p from the ps3 so that proves it can handle HDCP. Great price on this item, why pay much more for other cables when this cable does it all? This cable is a DVI-D dual link 24 pin cable (as opposed to a single link 19 pins). The cable packaging says "DVI-M" which confused me -I'm not sure what DVI-M means but since it worked perfectly for all my uses I am extremely pleased with this product. I built a computer a couple years ago, but no longer use it as I travel quite a bit now and needed a laptop. So I put the old computer with an HD Raedon Graphics card in it in the living room. Up until a few days ago, I had been using a VGA cord which, because of its analog nature, doesn't look the greatest on a 46" Sony Bravia. So I bought this cord about a week ago on Amazon. It was here in a few days and as soon as it came in, I tore it out of the package and set it up right away. Everything worked immediately without a hitch. video quality is SO much better now so goodbye Time Warner Cable!Customer Review: Works great!

I purchased two of these. I used one to hook up a DVI-only computer video card to an HDMI-only monitor. No issues.. plug and play!
I used the other to hook up the HDMI port of a blu-ray player to the DVI port on my 1080p television (monitor). Again, worked great! The only problem I had was having to run separate audio cables from my blu-ray to the TV. Not an issue in my mind.
Keep in mind the only difference between DVI and HDMI (aside from the physical connection) is that HDMI also carries the audio signal and DVI does not.
