Customer Review: SteelSeries disappoints once again

Pros:
-Anti ghosting
-Keysets
-All the keys are labeled
-Useful windows/explorer keys
-Good deal compared to others
Cons:
-Keyboard feels cheap
-Bent the contact pins while trying to put in a new keyset (the standard keyset fits better than the fps keyset)
-Not backlit
-Software is not the best, razer and logitech have much better
Eventhough this is supposed to be a gaming keyboard, I didn't feel much game in it. Keys are stiff, and they're full size keys instead of the lower profile ones that you see on razer keyboards. When I purchased this, I didn't know that steel series made the zboard, but once I got it the mail and played with it, it was just like any other steel series product...a cheap consumer product, made to look like gaming gear. Having had experience with SteelSeries before, I would not recommend their products.

it's just junk, the thing had potential but it was done terribly, as for hardware it's alright, but it isn't any better than a regular keyboard, AT ALL. the thing that makes it junk is the software, i used if for a few months because i didn't want to waste my money, but i just gave up, whenever i changed keysets it would freeze and i would have to reboot or unplug the usb, i tried using their costomer support but it was worthless, i then tried to download the newest version of the software, while installing it it just froze, then i couldn't use my mouse, so i couldn't do anything, the fact that the keyboard software messed up my mouse is pathetic, i had to manually turn off my computer and do a safe start to be able to finnaly remove the horrible software.
save your money, this keyboard is worthless, i'm using a $10 dollar keyboard that i got at wallmart right now, and it is way better

I LOVED the IDEA of this keyboard, and being able to switch keysets, cause in addition to gaming on my computer, I also do video editing in PREMIERE and AFTER EFFECTS, and also work in Photoshop. I loved the Photoshop keyset and the gaming keysets- HOWEVER- the actual hardware had ISSSUUUUEEES!!!! Like for example I'd be working away and all of the sudden a key I HADNT PUSHED would be going ENDLESSLY and in order to make it stop I had to remove the whole Keyset!! This started happening more and more frequently and cost me alot of time and effort when I had projects ruined or crashed by this keyboard. I contacted the manufacturer, got no response- downloaded the latest drivers and all that junk- but it never got any better- in fact it got worse! Finally I removed the whole thing and went back to my old keyboard- not nearly as fun, but it WORKS RIGHT!Customer Review: Disappointed

I purchased 3 of these keyboards as Christmas presents and had to send 2 of the 3 back for replacements since the keys stop functioning after the first few uses. The first replacement was a breeze and I was greatly surprised at how easy Amazon is to work with when having an issue with an item. When the second keyboard went bad, I was irritated but knew it would be easy to replace. Unfortunately that wasn't the case the second time since Amazon is no longer replacing the item but instead refunding my money since they have had more issues than expected with this item. I now have to send back all 3 keyboards and lost $60 on the World of Warcraft keysets I purchased for them.
My only advise to someone looking to purchase one is go with the Merc or Fang instead. I have since purchased the Merc and Fang to replace these 3 christmas presents.
Customer Review: Cool but not necessary

I bought this hoping to make World of Warcraft easier to play. It does but for the life of me I'm not a macro programmer so there's lots of features that I still don't use like the extra row of buttons to the top edge of the board. And I use print screen regularly and I haven't figured out how to program it into the board.
The Technology is cool but a bit delicate so take care switching the keyboards and Z board takes great care in the manual it state this fact. It seems well enough made if you take this precaution.
I also bought the WOW board and found that although it moves the quick links into groups and marks them well enough, that really doesn't matter to a person able to use a regular keyboard well.
It's a good product just not really my bag.
