Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of StarTech.com 24x26-Inch Desktop Anti-Static Mat M3013 (Beige)Customer Review: Anti-Static Mat Summary: 4 Stars
I'm an electronic technician constantly repairing electronics and building
or upgrading PC's at home. The quality of this product seems good, and I
just wish it was larger to cover more bench area and protect larger things
like PC's. I have to use another mat to put parts and devices on because
this one doesn't have as much surface area as I really need or want.
For the price it still is a good value, and can recommend it. It would be
5 stars except for its size.
Customer Review: Anti-Anti-Static Mat Summary: 1 Stars
I, like another reviewer here, also live in a very dry region. I am subject to static discharges year round. Using this mat made no difference in the amount or severity of discharges. To make sure the mat was grounded I first confirmed I had an outlet with a proper ground. (There is a device for doing this) I then connected the mat to the ground of the outlet. Even with this confirmed grounding there was no change in static discharges.
Customer Review: Works well Summary: 5 Stars
Not too much you can say on this product. It's an anti-static mat. The surface is very non-slip, which is useful since it would be annoying if your parts are moving when you're trying to screw/unscrew stuff. The mat is quite large, so I had to clear my desk before using it. Other than that, it works well.
Customer Review: No need for an anti-static wrist strap with this grounded mat. Summary: 5 Stars
It's a great huge mat with a nice grounding clip. I just put together a system using it. http://grandscheme.org
I think I'll take a power cable and butcher it to have just a grounding wire on one end so I can attach the clip to it.
Customer Review: It works Summary: 4 Stars
This mat was easy to set up and it works. Before using the mat, I fried a (corded) mouse and damaged a USB port on my computer. Now another ESD event will be less likely to occur.
