Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Speck ToughSkin Rubberized Case with Belt Clip for 80/120/160 GB iPod classic 6G (Black)Customer Review: Built for war and protects your precious music Machine. Summary: 5 Stars
What can I say more than my title. I am very impressed with the girth of this cover. If someone is looking for something dainty and demure... this is not the case for you. I have some concerns about the durability of the clip but that has more to do being burned by other cases in the past.
The additional glass cover for the screen is an excellent touch and I like that the control wheel is not covered at all leaving the machines innate sensitivity unencumbered.
So far... I really like this case.
If I have to say one bad thing. Is that it does not work with my DLO docking station. The rubber is so thick that if I want to run my IPOD through the stereo, I do have to remove it from the rubber case.
Customer Review: IPod 120Gig Protective Case Summary: 3 Stars
This is my first IPod; I bought it to use in my Goldwing motorcycle and felt it should be protected. Also, in reading reviews before my purchase it became clear that a protective case was very desireable to avoid damage to the IPod in everyday use. This case seemed the most capable of protecting my investment so I bought it at the same time and put the IPod into it immediately. The case itself does not disappoint. It's tough, rugged, and the IPod cannot fall out of it. However, the screen protective cover absolutely will not stay in place and this is very annoying. The case should be redesigned with a deep U shaped lip all around the edge to retain the cover. If the cover had stayed in place, the review would have warranted five stars.
Customer Review: doesn't quite work Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this for my new 160 gb and it has problems, at least for my purposes. I carry my iPod in my hand while I run long distances, so I need something "sticky", which it is. But it is too saggy for the 160 gb so i had to put in the spacer, which makes it bulky. With the spacer in, the screen shield doesn't quite fit, but with the spacer out, the screen shield slides around. I am taking it back to the apple store and will try the cheaper pack of 3 iskins plus the film. I had my last iPod for six years (classic 20 GB) and its evoskin lasted the whole time, too. It fit like a glove and kept it in my hand. When I did drop it (due to falling or dogs crashing into me) it protected the iPod. I just want that same one for the 160 GB.
Customer Review: Stylish and long-lasting Summary: 5 Stars
This case has already lasted over a year for me and shows very little sign of wear. I bought this case because I travel with my iPod to work and use it at the gym while working out. I figured the rubber covering would be more protective of the iPod in case of bumps. For my last mp3 player, a Creative Zen, I had a much thinner case and the hard drive eventually started to freeze up. I use this case with my iPod Classic and using the back insert the case fits nice and snug. It makes it easier to grip too. The holes for all the plugs and buttons are a good size so there's no problem there. The clear plastic protecting the screen shows a little wear around the edges, but it still protects the screen and doesn't affect visibility.
Customer Review: it ruined my ipod but good protection if you drop it Summary: 2 Stars
I got a new ipod for xmas and i won't be buying a toughskin case. i got a new ipod because my old one was scratched beyond belief from this case.the case is next to impossible to remove, the screen was so scratched it was literally unviewable. like another reviewer said, i thought it was the (not secure, removable) plastic screen cover that was scratched but they both were. where the belt clip attached to the cover left a huge scratch on the back of the ipod the size of a dime and the rubber around the top was loose. the plus's were that it was easy and comfortable to grip and the ipod was definately protected and safe if it was dropped. also i used the belt clip when i went to the gym and the ipod felt securely attached.
