Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of iHome iH80 Speaker System for iPod (Black)Customer Review: Coupla sweet hours so far Summary: 5 Stars
Easy to operate, I unpacked this and got it up and running immediately with my little mini plugged right in. Adjusted the bass/treble/volume, and I'm happy. The iPod is charging and the music is very, very nice. This is not a high powered system, but a very good system that works perfectly thus far with range in the music, well worth the gold box price I paid. The remote option is a wonderful bonus, so I can stick it in my pocket and make adjustments from the other side of this large room. I can't address other options, yet, but it seems rather straightforward and capable. Glad I bought this and I'd recommend it highly.
Customer Review: Great sound for a little box! Summary: 4 Stars
Surprisingly, this little speaker sounds pretty decent in our large kitchen/great room combination. I bought it back in February for only $20, but definitely think it's worth the $37.99 that Amazon is charging right now. Speaking of charging, was I amazed to discover that this unit DOES charge my new iPod Touch (2nd generation)! It was my understanding that it would allow the Touch to connect and play, but not charge at the same time--so this was a great surprise. It was my intention to give this as a gift but decided to keep it instead, and now I'm searching for an iHome alarm clock for our bedroom for christmas.
Customer Review: Awesome SOUND and Fantastic DEAL A+++ Summary: 5 Stars
I just got this home today and I am blown away. I currently have the standard iHome and a nano ipod. I wanted this for my classic ipod that is on the way. The sound is fantastic. If I didn't know better I would think it was Bose. I love the remote you don't have to touch the ipod. Cool backlit controls too. I do not know what the other person got maybe a defective one but mine is great. I highly recommend it. Charges the ipod and can work on batteries or AC. Cannot believe the deal either. The regular iHome was $99 and it is good. But $29.99 WOW!
Don't wait a minute longer this is a great deal. :)
Customer Review: Not worth it Summary: 1 Stars
You do get what you pay for, I guess. I purchased this speaker when Amazon offered it at the $19.99 Gold box price. I'm very glad I didn't pay more for it. The sound is quite muffled despite repeated adjustments to the treble and bass. It's fine for a travel stereo but the quality is sadly lacking. It is not worth more than what I paid for it certainly. If you're looking for a better quality, light weight speaker system for iPod, I would recommend the JBL On Tour Portable Speaker System ( Black )
Customer Review: Good speaker - great value for money Summary: 5 Stars
Some reviewers have complained about the muffled sound from the speaker when playing music on a low volume, and while they are not wrong, the sharpness of sound can be improved by increasing the treble at low volumes. For a price tag of less than $30, it is an amazing piece of electronics. I originally only wanted the speaker for its recharge function - any music playing capacity was a bonus (the iPod charger from Apple costs $30 in itself). It turned out to be a very worthwhile bonus.
If you're in the market for a very cheap iPod speaker, you'd do well to consider this.
