Customer Review: Garbage, but works.

After graduating from college, one of my biggest problem was waking up in time. So I decided to buy something that can wake me up to my favorite itunes music. At first I was really excited, and it works. The music quality is AMAZING, with a nice bass feature. The design and lighting feature is also nice and its ability to charge your ipod means you don't have to play 30$ for a charger. But soon after time passes, I began realizing some major flaws, one of them almost ruining my video ipod.
One of the biggest problem of the Ihome is sensitivity to wireless. Sometimes, while watching TV, the ihome will turn on magically by itself whenever you switch channels or change volume to your TV. I have a TV next to my bed, and it happened to me everyday. This isn't a major problem until you watch TV after 12, when the music all of a sudden blast waking up other people.
Another problem is the Ihome doesn't wake up to your music 100% of the time. This is caused by not turning your Ipod off when you plug it in. Sometimes it will wake the ipod to a very low volume due to a bad 45 degree connection with your ipod(and yes I was late to my interview because of this). One way to fix this problem is to test the alarm each time you sleep. If you are going to sleep at 4am, set the alarm to 4:01 and see if it works. It becomes a hassle doing it every night. Another case where this can happen: When you are moving stuff around, the AC power source is easily disconnected. So if the AC is half-way plugged, the Ihome will still think it is plugged (giving you now warnings about it being unplugged) and will not play music.
Last but not least, the ihome has the ability to ruin your ipod. I was watching TV one night, and the ihome turns on magically. So I quickly turn it off (its a reaction), and somehow my ipod froze. My ipod wouldn't respond to any of the touch wheel command, or the USB connection to your pc, or another charger. It just froze in the middle of a song being played and would not even turn off. Luckily, when I woke up, my ipod was working again. I best guess to the cause of this problem was the interference between the Ihome's "play" ability and its ability to charge your ipod. I don't think anyone would encounter this problem, but this is my last time I plugged my ipod to that piece of garbage.

Bottomline: Even though the sound quality and display is amazing, DONT GET THIS GARBAGE. I know there isn't a lot of alarms that wake to your ipod but get another model instead. There are too many design flaws with the Ihome H4. After compromising with the problems for more than 3 months, I got the "freeze your ipod" bug, and that is where I decided this fits nicely in the garbage can.
