There are two 4th generation iPods, generally referred to Color and not color. The corresponding batteries are BAT-4GC and BAT-4G? The other part is here: Sonnet Technologies BAT-4G Replacement iPod Battery (for 4th Generation i Pod)
These are different parts and they are NOT compatible. Unfortunately, Amazon can't get it right and have now for the 4th time shipped me a BAT-4G when I ordered a BAT-4GC. Unless you like wasting time, don't bother ordering this.
If you're feeling brave and want to order it anyhow, I didn't find it too hard to install (before I realized I had the wrong part). However, it is not for the meek. You have to use a provided took to pop the case open. You need to remove the hard drive (pretty easy). The interesting part is using a hair dryer to loosen the glue that holds the battery in place. You don't want to overhead the surrounding area. A head gun would work quickly, but you run the risk of desoldering components on the circuit board.
Hopefully, Amazon will get it right sooner or later, because the product probably works.
