This item works. I purchased 2 for 2 ipods. Both batteries were dead. They have a decent life. I however left an ipod unattended for about 3 months after I charged it. It started dying, but I have charged and used until it is discharged and the time the charge lasts has gotten longer. You have to use it a few times to really get the battery working at full capacity. The video is pretty good. The tools will not work more than once or twice, and you must be very careful when working with your ipods. If you want to make it live a little longer is a cheap investment. I am sure there are other batteries but this one seems good enough.Customer Review: Inexpensive but doesn't hold charge

As someone already familiar with working on iPods, the battery was easy enough to install. Unfortunately, the battery does not seem to hold much of a charge even after several charge cycles to condition it. It's like I've exchanged a totally dead battery for a slightly-less-dead battery. I'm guessing it's either old stock (Lithium cells have a limited shelf life, even if unused) or a case of getting what you pay for. While the price is attractive, you're probably better off putting the money towards a higher quality (and fresher!) replacement battery.Customer Review: New life to my iPod

My battery was completely dead before using this. The iPod would periodically shut off after like 30sec of usage if it wasn't in the dock. After a full charge I'm glad to say that the battery fixed that problem.
The only problem I have with this product is the difficulty of opening the case with the tools. Like the previous reviewers said, the tool gets dull and useless and it takes more pressure than you would expect to have to apply.
Overall a good product. The instructional video was helpful, and the battery works well.

I was really skeptical about this product. My 3G IPod original battery could retain no power at all, but I wanted to keep my songs, so I tried this replacement. The plastic tools supplied with this item are useless, but small "jeweler" screwdrivers worked perfectly for me to open the case. I followed the instructions on the supplied disc and in a few minutes I had what turned out to be 5-6 hours of power instead of having none at all.Customer Review: Went from no battery life to 15- 20 hours, easy to install

My ipod is going on 6 years old now, and the battery was lasting no more then 15 minutes. I ordered this product after seeing a former coworker replace all of his batteries. It did come with instructions, but if you have common sense, you could replace this easily. There are also videos on [...] which are helpful im sure to some people.
My battery life lasts about 15- 20 hours, but I hop from song to song.
