Customer Review: Important for TIVO HD

This cable is used to tie a SlingboxPro into an RGB stream such as the one between your TIVO HD unit and your monitor.
Some reviews on this site complain about the price. There are dozens for sale on eBay for under $20 (including shipping and extra cables!).
Some reviews say the cable should not have been needed, but then the cost of the Slingbox would have increased, while only a portion of buyers would have really needed the RGB connections. In addition the design of the box would need to be changed, since there is no additional room on the back for the numerous connectors.

This does exactly what it says. It came as a surprise to me like others have said that it was necessary. Even though it was noted that the cables were good quality, in fact they are cheapies, I did not use them. They look and give the illusion of high quality but I have high quality Monster Cables on my expensive setup and I see that if I use these low end cables it will be the weaklink of my system. The cables are ok for a normal setup, I just have a highend setup. The cables were why I docked it a star, it maybe should have been docked two stars.Customer Review: Very missleadingly named cable.

I finally realize why they don't include this with the pro sling box. Because the value it adds is practically 0.
The resulting picture is actually worse than the component output. I have an HD cable box that outputs converted signals and downsampled picture was actually better than the straight resampled HD signal that this cable outputs.
The picture is small and it is not noticably better than the component output. In hindsight the pro box is really not necessary since the HD cable does not add its advertised value.

This feature should have been built-in to the Slingbox Pro from the beginning. They now have a new model of the Slingbox that has these connections built-in along with 1080i upscaling. The Slingbox pro was supposed to be made for multiple connections and has an HDMI like connection but will not work unless this HD Connect is attached to it. A HDMI input/output connection on this dongle would have received a better review. Overall, I was not pleased with the PQ of the slingbox with this connection via PC or remote access and got rid of it.Customer Review: Sling Media HD Connect Cable

I bought this along with Slingbox Pro, I understood that this piece was needed to obtain HD quality broadcasts on my laptop from Slingbox. It works fine, I have a co worker who connected his without this piece (he doesn't have HD at home) and it looked as good as mine. Also this piece takes the HD port on my Cablebox/DVR so I have to connect my HDTV with Component cables, needless to say, My home TV viewing suffers, so I disconnect my slingbox when at home. Price is better on Amazon than CC or BB.
