Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Skullcandy Smokin Bud In Ear S2SBBR-BZ (Black Rubberized)Customer Review: Good sound quality with fair noise-blocking Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these to replace a pair of Sony Ex-71s whose cord had started to fray and fail. After going through several pairs of earbuds (Philips, the new Sonys, and jbuds), I settled on these. Their sound blocking is sufficient for riding on mass transit, where it is far more important to block out the noise. When walking on the street or in other areas where I might need to hear something, I just wear them a little looser and I feel confident I could hear well enough to respond. They are not so great at the gym, however, as they fall out without much pulling.
The in-line volume control is very handy and the sound quality is pretty good. I would recommend these.
Customer Review: Not exactly durable Summary: 3 Stars
These headphones are average. The sound is good and all the music that comes out sounds crisp. The problem I have with these headphones is that they aren't very durable. I place these headphones in my pocket once in awhile when I travel, so the cable gets bent. The plastic that encases the cable is very stiff, stiff enough that if its bent too far the plastic cracks and breaks open, revealing the wiring. This then leads to the wiring falling apart and the headphones stop working. Maybe I'm too used to my other headphones being made of a more flexible material, but I'd rather have them last longer so that I don't have to shell out another 20-30 dollars for headphones.
Customer Review: Horrible Sound Summary: 1 Stars
I have tried V-Moda Bass Frequency Headphones, Skullcandy Ink'd, and finally i decided to try the SkullCandy Smokin Buds. My biggest Complaint is definitely the sound; the bass sounds very muddy, the mids are no where to be found, and the highs are bland and barely there. The Skullcandy Ink'd series has much better sound and they are also much cheaper. I dont know what Skullcandy was thinking with the sound quality of these ear buds. One of the features i did like on the ear buds was the adjustable volume slider feature, but that does not make up for the sound at all. Go for the Skull candy Ink'd series (which are also better than the V-Moda in my opinion).
Customer Review: Worst "SkullCandy" product I've purchased. Summary: 1 Stars
I bought these to replace the other design due to my cat chewing them up. I absolutely LOVED the bass and sound quality of my older pair so I expected this product to be no less. I was soooooo disappointed when I first plugged them into my iPod. There is NO bass to speak of and the highs sounded horrible and scratchy. I will buy skullcandy again to replace this piece of crap product, but I'll be purchasing the other style because those are awesome! I purchased the crapy ones directly from SkullCandy and I couldn't believe what a piece of junk they turned out to be. My advise, do purchase SkullCandy but go with the other style cause this style sucks!!!
Customer Review: Better options for the price Summary: 2 Stars
For people saying this is a good pair of headphones, they really haven't tried similar priced products. I own the older pair of these, and thought I'd buy the update for my girlfriend, but they are junk. My other phones include Meelectronics m6, m9, older skullcandy smokin and the klipsch s4. The m6 and m9 are in the same price range and both blow the skullcandy phones away as far as sound and comfort go. These won't even stay in the ear even with the right sized buds. Definitely not for working out!
I'm going to spare the lengthy review and just say pass on these because you have better options. The older version of this was better.
