Customer Review: Great Item for Stiletto
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a base, for the stiletto, for your car. The base charges the Stiletto while it's sitting in the base. It comes with a remote control (too small in size, but still nice), that makes it convenient to operate your radio. The base buttons are lit up for ease (glance) while driving.
I used the vent grill hooks option to mount it to the dash, works quite well. There are a few solutions for mounting, that come with it. Note: There is an aftermarket floor stand for it, that is a flexible cable rod, and easily mounts to the floor via a seat floor bolt, that would make it less inviting to theives. For now, I hang a black wool cap over the radio. This is because it is a pain to constantly mount and unmount the radio from the base, and I'm a little leary of wear and tear on the connection interface on the bottom of the radio. When you try to grab the radio and pull up on it, there is just very little surface area to grab without pressing other buttons, latches, etc. Ok to mount/dismount when necessary. There is another web site for getting both the FM Direct Adapter and extra adapter cables you'll need. Search on Metra Antennaworks product 40gm30, then hone in on your own car info. Without a casette player in the dash, it's the only real solution for hook up to your car audio system. I have a Chevy Trailblazer. In my case, go behind the glove box, and there is a radio antenna wire coupling, allowing for super easy installation for the FM Direct Adapter. This is the only Stiletto car base available, (as far as I know) and it does the trick. Chemercial installation runs about $90 parts included.

Customer Review: Not So Good
Summary: 1 Stars

I ordered this car kit about 3 weeks ago. It has already gone out. When I called Sirius, I was forwarded to the WORST customer service reps I have ever dealt with. The first 3 people wouldn't listen and I became annoyed and hung up. On the 4th try, I finally had a person who would listen. I told him the unit had been working in the car the day before, and not would not recognize that it was is the vehicle dock. He told me, that it is "hard" on the unit to be turned on and off on the "short trips" I take. So I asked and was told its not made to listen to in the car unless the unit will be on for awhile. Totally worthless to me. I don't know about you, but I drive in town, not 3 hour road trips everyday.
Further, it is a pain to install. 3 long wires that are hard to hide in the car. After about 2 hours of install, I turn it all on to find, even with the antenna booster(Which by the way, I unplugged to find NO difference in the sound quality), there is still hiss is the background. I have tried every channel in my area, and settled on one that was the "best". If you want to overcome this, it is possible. With another purchase of yet even more wires and I think of a cost around 50$. This looks a little bit tricker to install as well. You have to get into the back of your stereo which I, and sure most of you, have no clue how to do.
All in the all the radio is okay. Programming is great, the car kit is JUNK. Customer service? JUNK.

Customer Review: Works Great!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just had this installed in my car yesterday at Circuit City for about $76--well worth the price of professional installation! (And much cheaper than BEST BUY!) They did a great job, wired the power and the antenna directly into the radio & behind the dashboard--no wires at all. However, as some other reviewers have noted, be sure to get an FM Modular tie-in thingamajig, only costs $20 on Amazon (cheaper than in-store), and the reception is 1000% better, no interference whatsoever vs. a wireless FM hookup. I believe the other reviewers are correct when they say the Stiletto has a much weaker FM broadcast than the previous Sirius models.

One other small drawback: the dashboard mounting arm that is supplied w/this unit is a bit short. Because of the way my car is configured (older Infiniti I30) the docking station is a bit low, not exactly where I want it. I think I'm going to invest in an aftermarket Sirius gooseneck mount, which sells on Amazon for $17-$25,Arkon SR-88 15-inch Flexible Gooseneck Satellite Radio Mount for Delphi Skiff or Sirius Satellite Radios as it looks like a better solution.

Other than that, this is a great product for your Sirius radio. Howard rules!!

Customer Review: Works fine, but cludgy design overall
Summary: 3 Stars

I love my Stiletto, and love my Stiletto home kit. The car kit? Not so much. It works fine - as far as reception, etc - but the design of the dock is not so hot on the fit and finish, and the mounting arm, etc - it's all just a bit cheezy and hard to deal with. Inserting the Stiletto into the dock is a 2 handed job, and things don't seem to line up so well - so you need to use a little force, and that is not something I like to do when dealing with connections on electronic devices! Another annoyance is - before you can use your Stiletto in the car after hooking up to the dock, you have to wait an interminable time for it to 'connect' so you are stuck looking at the cute Sirius dog and some stars that show you the progress of your connection - can't use the MP3 player ability or anything else until it connects. This is really annoying - my dedicated Sirius car radios do not take that much time to sync up - and in fact, if I just use the Stilletto in my car 'as-is' =without= the car dock, it syncs up super fast/no problem. Anyway - I wanted to love this car dock - but it is the weakest link in my Stiletto accessory collection, cheezy, cludgy and definitely not worth paying full price for!

Customer Review: Car Kit Only Works When Car is Warm
Summary: 2 Stars

Strange one. I purchased my Stiletto and Car Kit from Circuit City. I had them install it. They direct wired the Car Kit to my 2002 Subraru. After I got the car home - a three hour drive, the next day the Car Kit would not power on. Then in the afternoon it would power up. Then in the morning would not power up. It had a mind of its own. It seems that the kit only powers up when the interior of the car is warm? Not a good thing for Colorado.

I called Sirius to no avail. - Take it back to Circuit City thay said. I ask them if I could have them ship me a cig lighter adaptor - no - have to buy a new car kit to get that.

Called Circut City - The problem is they of course have to see it. I wanted to see if I could resolve this issue w/o driving back up to Denver just for that. No Luck - The best advise I got from both Circuit City and Sirius was to buy another Car Kit and have some one local install it.
