Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of SIRIUS Stiletto 2 Portable Satellite Radio with MP3 PlayerCustomer Review: Awesome Unit Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a Gadget junkie...you name it, I've bought it and tried it, from the latest PC's...HD TV's,, Sling TV, TIVO, HD DVD players, Blu-Ray players,I-Touch, Zune, X-Box 360, PS3, Blackberry, XM radio & Sirius players...etc...etc...etc...
If your looking for he Ultimate portable music device, the Stiletto 2 is the answer...This unit does it all, you need no other portable music device...
First: How much money do you spend on downloading songs???
Possibly hundreds of $ a year? With Stilleto 2 you can download up to 10 hours of indiviual songs from Sirius...and it's no additional cost, just the monthly subscriber fee you're already paying, and you can replay them at any time with the built in memory.
Second: It automatically records the stations you listen to, up to 100 hours, so when your in a no signal area, you can listen to hours & hours & hours of music during this time.
Third: Not only does it have 2GB of built in memory but you can add a Micro SD card to increase your music collection. You can transfer / import music files from your PC...it will replaces youe Zune, Ipod, MP3 player, and using the Yahoo music site (software included) you can purchase music online and continue to add to your colection.
Fourth: It has not only satellite reception capability, but WiFi as well, and both work excellent! So if you have WiFi at home, no need to worry about a Satellite signal, it connects to your Wifi...and if you'e in a free hotsspot...wala, connetion!
Fifth: The reception of a satellite signal is very good even without the antennae earphones...anyone who complains that they can't receive a satellite signal indoors with this unit needs to remember "IT'S SATELLITE", that means you need a clear view of the sky to receive, if you got a roof over you, it will block the signal!!!
The only option I would like to see added is being able to load photos for viewing...
I say BUY IT! You'll throw away every other portable music player you have after you do!
Customer Review: Know what you are getting! It's great if you know what you are getting. Summary: 5 Stars
Read all these reviews. This is a great product for taking Sirius to work, home or in the car but make sure you get the home and car kits.
This is not a self contained portable satellite receiver that will work anywhere with just the antenna head phones. It does work outside with the headphones but if that's all you are planning on then I would think twice.
In my opinion this product is best suited for being able to bring Sirius to multiple places that still have external antennas. Meaning, if you want it for two cars, great, buy two car kits and just move this between them.
Things I didn't see in other reviews that I think are worth noting:
Radio start playing immediately when I attach it to the car port. This is really nice. I thought I would have trouble with it acquiring signal or have to change from one mode to another by hand. Nope, just plug it in, select a preset, if you want and it start instantly. (Assuming your car isn't in the garage).
REMEMBER: You have to have line of sight with the sky. This does NOT work inside unless you are listening to pre-recorded shows.
Recordings are really simple. And it even wakes up if in sleep mode to start recording so you don't have to leave it on.
I think most other things are in other reviews but I will say that I completely agree with a previous user's post when they said the best way to use this is to records several shows or hours worth of your favorite stations so you have the ability to listen to them while inside.
I would think if you want live talk shows all the time then, of course, this recording idea won't work.
Another nice feature. If you record several hours of a channel (I record 6 hours every night from 12am to 6am) you can skip songs while listening to the 6 hour block. Even though it shows the recording as 1 title, while you are listening you can skip forward and backward a song at a time. You can't even do this live. This is awesome!
Hope this helps!
Customer Review: Very happy......but it took time, and a bit more money. Summary: 4 Stars
I wanted to write a review on this product so that others knew exactly what they were going to be dealing with. First of all, It is known that there are issues with defective radios, so you're pretty much going to be playing the lotto in your quest to get a good one. I was not so lucky the first time. My first radio was defective. I was able to exchange it and recieve a new one in about 2 weeks with no cost to me at all. The second one works amazing! All the bells and whistles that other reviewers talk about are great. It records and it does so on a timer, works kinda like a Tivo, is expandable with an SD card, It also works with Napster to go if you happen to be a member as I am.
Now here is a couple cost related things you need to know about. First of all, you will need to spend another 50$ to buy the home docking kit. This is neccessary for sched. recordings since everyone is right, there is no reception in the house. Anyone who's been reading these reviews at all should know this by now. Either accept it, or save your money. Next, Sirius now charges you 15$ to activate your radio or upgrade from your old radio. Apparently they feel a nice way to thank you for spending 250$ on their products to upgrade from your free radio is to charge you a fee. This to me makes no sense. Also, all customer service people are very foreign and difficult to understand, just be aware.
For someone like myself who leaves for the airport every Thurs. and returns home every Sun. This is the only way to enjoy all that Sirius has to offer and never miss a min of Howard Stern. You can listen on your time and will never have to listen to a commercial again if you choose not to. I have also since have not had anymore need for my old Mp3 player so thats great too. I gave this 4 stars because after getting through all of this I now have exactly what I hoped for when I originally purchased this radio. Good luck to everyone.
Customer Review: Decent unit, needs better reception Summary: 4 Stars
Had this for about 6 weeks. I don't have the home or car kit, just what comes with the device.
1)Very easy to use. I only had to look at the directions a few times.
2)WiFi reception is pretty good. I get a signal outside, basement and in garage. (You can not record programs or music with the WiFi.) Also picked up WiFi very easily at 2 public locations where I couldn't connect with laptop.
3)Sound coming from the ear buds is pretty good, as well as the headphones. The headphones have a built in antenna and are very uncomfortable. I only use them when I have to.
4)I get 1-2 bars (out of 3) reception with the headphones indoors if I stand next to an un-obstructed window and don't move the head phones. From there I can record music and shows and listen when I don't have a signal. I do get some bad reception moments during recording. Note: You can not use the head phones (antenna) and the charger at the same time. So I can only record as long as the battery has life. Which has been about 4 hours using wifi or satellite. During playback it lasted for 15+ hours.
5)Micro SD card was tricky. I looked like there was an error when I put an 8gb SDHC card in it. After installing, all I got was the image of the dog. Stayed that way for 45 mins. I rechecked the card and reinstalled. I did the complete shut down and the next attempt was good. It reads the card very slow. So be patient.
6)It's is a little heavy for any cardio type of work outs / running. A cheap mp3 player would work better. And cheaper to replace if it gets broken
7)The head phone antenna signal is not that strong. Don't expect a super strong signal unless you are in a clear area with no trees or structures that bock the signal. Walked around the block and never lost signal. (Winter - no leaves on the trees).
8)Set up was fast with Sirius and took about 10mins using the online feature.
Customer Review: Excellent product, I have been waiting three years for this!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this item and I wanted to wait a couple weeks to give my review of the product. I use it everyday and it eliminates all my other mp3 devices.
Here is how a typical day breaks down with the Stiletto 2:
5:00am - work out on treadmill or bike listening to mp3 mixes or sirius through wifi.
7:30am - drive to work, drop the kids off, listen to satellite radio, news or music
8:00am - listen to music all day at work, through mp3 or created playlists; why can't my office get wifi?
12:00am - Walk around downtown listening to satellite radio with the headphone antenna.
4:30pm - Drive home and to pick up the kids, listening to music.
9:30pm - Chill out in bed listening to wifi radio.
Overall, I love this product. Is it expensive? Yes. Are the accessories expensive? Yes. Does it work as advertised? Yes.
There are so many options I like I will highlight a few.
First, I love having the option to listen to the radio through wifi. I think that is awesome.
Second, I like to listen to a lot of different kinds of music and I wouldn't have the patience to search through the 80gb ipod. With sirius, different genres of music are just a click away.
Third, I love that I can walk outside and listen to sirius, a service I have had for two years and haven't been able to take it portable. I go to Missouri football games and I am going to take the Stiletto 2 to the games to listen to the play by play, or to check other games.
Fourth, I love that you can add a micro-sd card. I added a 2gb to expand my music. A bonus feature I discovered is I can play my mp3s in the car now. That was an awesome feature I didn't think about.
I feel the Stiletto 2 is pricey, but for me, it has allowed me to listen to a service I was already paying for in a lot more applications throughout the day!
