Customer Review: Overpriced & Poor Construction - Will "short out" in 3 months.

The microphone is too far away from your mouth, and you have to hold it up (looking like a complete fool in public) and talk into it... and despite the fact that it looks fairly well constructed, mine shorted out in 3 months somewhere near the plug... I can live with the microphone being far away, but for that much money, I expect it to be built to handle forces from daily use... The headphones also are poorly constructed as the little rubber part has come free from the hard plastic (but that is another review)...Customer Review: Good way to turn any headphones into a headset

Pros: Turns any headphones into a headset for the iPhone. Good sound quality and appears well made
Cons: It is sometimes difficult to locate the microphone properly due to the stiffness of the wires
Note: If you use these with sound isolating headphones, such as the ones from Shure, you will sound muffled to yourself. There is no feedback from the mic to the headphones. You may want to leave one earbud out or loose to get a more normal amount of feedback on your speaking level.

First I was blown away by Shure's sound isolating headphones and they've done it again with this incredible headset. Crystal clear sound with the mic clipped halfway down my shirt. This is a pretty simple piece of hardware so there isn't much more to say than that. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and it does it better than most headsets you're going to find. Add in the low price tag and a two year warranty and this is a must have accessory for your iPhone.

I love my Shure ec2 headphones, and was very disappointed when I discovered that they wouldn't work with my new iphone. Apple should have included an adapter, but they didn't. This one allows me to use my good headphones and use the phone function as well. I especially like the button that allows me to answer calls without removing the phone from its holder. Only drawback- now I've got about 6 feet of substantial cable between the headphones and the adapter.Customer Review: Cable Shorted Out In Less Than A Month

I trusted the reputation of the Shure brand and had no problem paying more for this adaptor hoping for durability. After less than a month of non-abusive use, the cable has shorted out near the plug, which causes the sound to cut out. I was very surprised at the poor durability of this product.
I wrap headphones and cables loosely and put them in a case, so this was a case of the product, not the use. I do not recommend this adaptor at all.
