Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Shure MPA-3C Music Phone Adapter for iPhoneCustomer Review: Breaks and bad microphone Summary: 1 Stars
This thing broke twice in less than 2 years of very light use. You're better off just using the Apple earphones with your iphone.
Had to buy it because the Shure earphones have such short cords -- why do they do this btw instead of having a normal length cord?? They make you pay $50 for this too!
Sent it once for repairs, got it back but now it's out of warranty and useless. So much for professional quality from Shure, especially after I had to pay $50 for this.
Microphone placement is also useless, way too low when using the Shure earphones. Plus the microphone is very sensitive so it captures all the ambient noise but your voice.
Customer Review: works great, too bad Apple didn't do it this good Summary: 5 Stars
these let me use my V-Moda earphones for great listening and a better fit than the Apple iphone eardisks.
only downside is that you have this cord plus the length of the earphone cord, but have found a nice way to tie up the earphone cord (and will look at some shrink wrap in the future). Even tho the mike kind of dangles down around my top button instead of right by my throat like the apple button/mike, all my called parties say sound is just fine. and the squeeze button has all the functionality of the apple mike. But now I have a MUCH better fit in my ears. And better sound quality. and as others noted, don't have to jack the volume up as much.
Good buy.
Customer Review: Not up to Shure's standards Summary: 2 Stars
This is actually a nice product at first. The mic is sensitive (perhaps too much so), and the buttons works well. The length is ideal, especially if used with other recent Shure headphones.
The problem is the construction of it. I've had two of these, and both quickly developed a short or break that frequently drops out the sound from one of the two sides. I don't know why this is, but now that it's happened twice, I tend to think that this just isn't a very good product. That's disappointing. I've had several Shure earphones and loved them all, they are a company i respect tremendously. But this particular product simply isn't up to their standards.
Customer Review: Adapter Lets you Forward Songs Too Summary: 5 Stars
When I first researched this product I could not confirm anywhere whether it acted like the Apple iPhone earphones in allowing you to forward to the next song with a double-click. Well, as it turns out, I bought a set and confirmed it myself.
This is one of the only iPhone adapters I know which will not only let you answer and reject calls, but also will let you forward music to the next song in iPod mode.
Also, like Shure earphones themselves, it uses a thick heavy duty wire which does not tangle easily and is rugged enough to handle daily use (and stuffing into my pockets).
Overall an excellent product. Recommend highly.
Customer Review: Didn't hold up for long. Summary: 2 Stars
This is a great idea, and it worked perfectly... for about 3 months. After that, it just got flaky, sometimes working and sometimes not. First, the microphone stopped working, so I had to scramble to pull out the headphones and yank it out of the phone when I realized the other person couldn't hear me. Then the button stopped working, and would only advance songs or stop/start playback after pushing the button multiple times. And of course, it didn't malfunction until it was too late to return it. Now granted, I use the thing all the time (at the gym, at work, in the car), but it still seems like it should last longer than 3 months... :(
