Customer Review: Decent case, low quality finish

After having this case for a few months, the rubberized coating on the outside of it started to scratch and chip off. It now looks pretty crappy, and I will have to replace it. I do carry the case in my pocket where it can rub up against my keys, but I was still pretty dissapointed with the performance. It's possible that you may not have the problem if you carry it in a holster (or a purse).
Otherwise, the case is very sleek if not especially protective. It's basically a thin plastic cover that clasps tightly over your iphone. It will protect the phone from scratches, but I can't believe it provides much benefit if you drop the phone on a hard surface.

I rarely write reviews, but last night my iPhone took a dive onto the driveway and bounced a few time while a cursed loudly. Thanks to the Shield case it's unharmed. It only wraps around the back and sides of the phone, so there's no protection of the screen, but I wanted a slim case that would allow me to slid it into my pocket without bulk. The matte finish adds just a touch of texture to make handling the phone more stable, yet it's smooth enough to still be able to slide into a tight pocket without bunching everything up. It does make adjusting the volume rocker on the side a bit more difficult, but I'll take that minor annoyance to have great protection.Customer Review: Fast shipping and great case

So I NEVER write reviews, so this should tell you how happy I am. I've had bad shipping luck in the past so I was completely amazed at how fast and easily this item came. It came directly from Digital Media Outlet within two days even though I only paid for ground shipping and wasn't supposed to receive it for 5-7 days. I got multiple emails confirming my purchase and letting me know that the package was on it's way - very professional. And all for a little iphone case.
The case, by the way, is perfect. I like the matte texture - it doesn't get stuck like silicone would and has a nice feel. And the cut outs are in just the right spots.

The case protects the back and sides, but doesn't protect the front screen. The protection is very thin and I don't see how it would protect an iPhone from common drops. If the phone fell screen side facing the ground, there is not enough cushioning on the screen side of the case to prevent the screen itself from actually touching the floor. It is apparent that the case wasn't designed to protect the screen, which I think is horrible design since the screen is more valuable than the back.
I know most of the reviews for this item are highly positive, and I don't understand why since this case obviously doesn't do much to protect the phone.

My friend recommended this case and I can't thank her enough. I had tried others but they were all too bulky and detracted from the sleek elegance of the iphone. Believe it or not the Shield actually enhances the beauty while retaining the slimness of the iphone. I just love how it looks and feels in my hand. I have now gone ahead ordered the white and clear versions so I can change the look depending on my mood. This case is also quite the bargain when comparing it to the prices for other cases out there. I also received a nice microfiber display cleaning cloth in the package which was a nice surprise. Just buy it, you won't be disappointed!
