Customer Review: Buy Two!
Summary: 5 Stars

Being of a certain age, I have some hearing loss. I find it especially difficult to follow dialogue of movies and TV dramas played through our TV's speaker. My wife Barbara is deaf in one ear and has the same problem. I bought the RS 140 and the HDR add-on headset. They work very well. The sound quality is excellent. They are comfortable to wear. And now we are enjoying our Netflix DVDs ever so much more. (Because the earpads seal so well, conversing is nearly impossible, and we occasionally miss phone calls.)

I also enjoy streaming audio from my computer, especially public radio news and talk programs and music from the online services of public radio stations (e.g., jazz from KUWL). So I found that I was regularly shifting the transmitter back and forth between the TV and the computer. I had hoped to be able to buy a transmitter separately, but I couldn't find a way to do that. So I bought another RS 140 set and now have an unnecessary headset. But it's worth the price to have the convenience. Now when I want to listen to talk or music I find it on the computer and listen anywhere in the house, including in the basement.

I bought my first RS 140 and add-on headset from Amazon. I bought the second RS 140 from J&R, which (as of mid November) had an excellent price and free shipping.

Customer Review: A good quality product
Summary: 4 Stars

This was the second set of wireless headphones I tried for watching TV late at night while the wife was sleeping next to me (after returning the first pair). These cost slightly more than the Sony brand I had previously but it was well worth the money.

They are very comfortible and use an inductance charging system (you just put them on the cradle and the battery charges). Sometimes you have to line them up for the charging light to come on but after using them for many months I haven't had to fiddle with the positioning very often.

The sound quality is good but I am not an audiophile so I can't give an indepth report there. I am able to clearly hear everything and I would rank the sound quality over the speakers in the TV (a Samsung LCD).

I reserve 5 stars for products that are over-the-top impressive so 4 stars is as good of a rating as I can give this quality product (I was tempted to go 5 stars on this review). If you are looking for a good pair of wireless speakers for the money I would absolutely recommend these.

You get the occassional pop & whistle that all wireless speakers seem to get but it doesn't seem to happen very often. I have also listened to the TV while I run downstairs to raid the pantry without any interuption in sound so distance is more than I had expected.

Customer Review: Very nice headphones
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought these as a present to myself for using at work. My current KOSS headphone cable was always snagging when I turn myself around in my chair, causing them to fall to the floor with a clatter. Quite annoying.

I figured the solution was some wireless ones. Ideally I wanted some noise-cancelling headphones that were wireless, but those do not seem to exist. After reading some reviews on noise-cancelling headphones I decided to stick with the wireless option.

I find them very comfortable to wear for several hours, although I do take them off from time to time to talk to people in the office. I work in IT so spend a lot of quality time with a keyboard. They are pretty light and are a good fit for my ears. I have a large head so if you have a skinny head they might not fit so well. The charger / base is simple to use, and everything turns itself off if it has not being used for 10 mins.

Controls are fairly easy to use, but might take a bit of getting used to for some. I like the ability to balance the headphones to the left or right channel. There are some flickering lights on the base and beeps which mean different things, so be sure to read the manual first. Oh, and you have to charge them the for 16hrs before you can use it for the first time.

Overall I am very happy with them.

Customer Review: Fantastic quality, 3 years running
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using these headphones for over 3 years now, and have never regretted them. They have been through hell and back - I sew for a living, and I've used them off and on for many, many hours, ranging from 40 hours a week during busy work times to ~10 hours a week while I'm at school.

The closed cup design eliminates many backround sounds, while not masking all external sources. Physical noise cancelling, nothing complicated about that.

The padding has held up remarkably well for having such heavy use - I don't baby them but the plastic looks like new, the comfortable ear cushions and head bumpers are still looking great, and the original set of NiMH 600mA batteries still get over 15 hours per charge - after three years!

The base is super convenient for charging, and the LED status lights work great. The RF signal is plenty strong; I can get ~150' inside my dorm room, and although it occasionally picks up a 900MHz phone call at home, that only happens maybe once a month. Small price to pay for such great sound quality - good, solid base and did I mention they're comfortable for day after day extended wearings?

All in all, one of the best electronics investments I've made in the past five years - simply put - get these headphones! You will absolutely not regret your decision!

Customer Review: A good product but not as good as advertised
Summary: 3 Stars

The headphone is comfortable and has good sound quality. But the range is not as good as advertised. My home is a quiet eletro-magnetic environment in 900 MHz band. The house is far away from city and even from neighbors. There is no electronic equipment operating in this band in my house, when the cordless phone is not used. Even so, I get only about 100 ft range (with two interior walls between) when I start to hear noise.

The "silence suppression" feature is supposed to reduce the annoying factor of noise. The idea is when sound level drops below some level (presumably it is silence period with only noise), the sound is completely cut off so the user won't hear noise in the silence period. But in practice, it doesn't work very well. When the signal is low, I can still hear it although the noise is there. But the headphone keeps cutting off so I cannot use it.

Apparently Sennheiser is having a lot of trouble with noise. Several reviews mention that fact, and they also go out of their way to deal with noise. I don't understand why they cannot make it better. I have a cordless phone working in the same band and in analogue mode. But it can cover the range without any problem.

On the positive side, this headphone is not interfered by my cordless phone, unlike my last one.
