Customer Review: Better than anticipated
Summary: 5 Stars

I received my RS140 headset about a week ago, and I am nothing short of completely satisfied with the product. These replaced a set of Acoustic Research model AW771's which died a premature death after only 2 months of intermittent use. One of the best features of the RS140 is the ability to balance the volume in the headsets, which for me is great, as I have more hearing loss in one ear than the other. I especially like the automatic on / off feature, both for the transmitter and the headset itself.

My use of the headset is primarily for listening to the TV, however I'm sure they would perform equally well with any type of audio equipment.

Audio quality is great. Judging from quite a few years experience with wired headphones, these meet or nearly so all the frequency responses of my wired set(s). The audio level available is quite adequate, even for the hearing impared, as I am.

The headset is very comfortable, and if you want something to almost block out all extraneous sounds, this is the set to go with. Sometimes it performs too well, and I might miss hearing something that I should, but that is little to deal with. The construction and method of battery charging is very simple, yet it is quite functional, and the transmitter unit is actually designed to mount on a wall.

If there were one thing I would say is a negative, it would be the wall transformer, but in this day and time, just about every piece of electronic or computer gear has a power cube. The power cube could be mounted inside the transmitter, and a common power cord used, since you have to have AC power anyhow. The size of the cord would be offset by the lack of having to find outlets with enough room for the cube.

I recommend the Sennheiser RS140 strogly, and don't think you can go wrong with the purchase.

Customer Review: Sennheiser Engineering pulls it off again!

I wear these phones several hours a day, usually 3 to 4 days a week in an Electronics Manufacturing Plant with LOTS of interference and noise. Its an Excellent place to test the "Spurious Rejection" ability of the Sennheisers to filter out noise and static. Several am/fm radios I've tried could only receive static and one talk radio station here. I purchased an ipod touch and now an iphone with music players and internet Radio Station Aps in them, and plugged them into these Sennheiser Phones and put them to the Test. The Signal over wifi and/or 3G has NO static, and the Sennheiser's Filter out the Plant Noise like its not even there. You have to fiddle with the switches a little at first, especially the AUTO TUNE button on the Right Earphone as you move about several times till it learns about your inviroment, but after about 5 minutes and several tries, it locked in and works GREAT with no fall outs, noise or static at all. Like I said, it takes a few tries.... on about the second try, it was alwmost there, but would make a clicking or bumping sound as i moved around the plant, pushing the button occasionally when the sound was best. Once it locked in, NIRVANA and Wonderful Tone!! The other GREAT feature is the QUIET AUTO SHUTDOWN, that turns to silence, instead of SNOW at full volumn like the previous model. ALSO dont forget to turn off "Alert Beep" feature if ya turn it on by mistake, or it will annoy you with "Status Beeps" to let you know if its happy or not. I guess if you have a problem with the phones, you can turn on this feature to hear the status of the battery and several other functions which are explained in the paper user manual that came in the box. I am Very Satisfied!! Thank You Amazon and Sennheiser for a Great Product and buying experience !!

Customer Review: Amazing Sounds and Wireless ! None Better !
Summary: 5 Stars

OK - So let me start by saying that I read EVERY review on all wireless headphones and all of the reviews on the RS-120, RS-130, and RS-140 before buying.

A few things I would say after living with these.....First, I don't understand how anyone can say that these don't sound amazing. They simply do - and I listen to music - and soft passages critically. One hint : turn off the compression when you are listening to music. The switch is on the charger on the bottom right. Try it - you will be amazed at the musical clarity improvement. Also - as other reviewers have pointed out - make sure that the signal source is loud enough - to reduce any hiss that you might hear. It works - it really does.

Range ? I have tried these two floors up from a cellar full of metal furnace piping - with excellent results. I don't understand how someone can say they need to be within 50 feet of the source. They simply must have a defective set - as these carry from two stories up.

I own two other pairs of Sennheiser phones including the HD-280 PRO that are critically acclaimed. Honestly - these are MORE comfortable than those - and have a sound that is comprable.

I can't speak for the RS-120 or RS-130 but I would say this - buy a REFURBISHED pair. They run around $115 on AMAZON and still come with a FULL TWO YEAR WARRANTY. That's what I did - and you cannot tell the difference from new - as they look BRAND NEW - and sound AMAZING.

Again - my advice is to buy these - turn off the compression feature - and if for some reason you have any reception problems - there are three different channels.

Again - I searched a long time - these really ARE THAT GOOD.......

Hope you LOVE 'em !

Customer Review: Lives up to its reputation, would give it 4.5 stars if I could

I love these headphones. I have had three other pair (two RCAs and a Sony) in the past dozen years and these, by far, are the best. I would buy them again and I recommend them.

I bought these as I recently moved to a small apartment building of a dozen units around an open court yard. I like to watch action movies, loud science fiction, as well as the radio at 5 AM when I get up. I didn't want to be a noisy neighbor. And I do like to have my audio as I move around my apartment.

The clarity of these headphones is wonderful. I had to upgrade my amplifier's antenna to use them for FM, they brought out all of the sounds, both intended music and news, as well as static. I can go all around the property, out to the car port through two stucco walls to my car and it is amazingly clear.

The feel is almost wonderful. I find them a tiny bit uncomfortable after a few hours. The fabric used on the ear coverings is something I am getting used to, a sightly less comfortable feel than I would like.

The design has an odd feature that I would like to see them change in future releases. I find the on/off and volume and other controls on back side of the ear coverings is very inconveniant. I have accidently turned them off a few times and also sent the volume skyrocketing if I am in my recliner and move my head on a pillow there. I've turned to grab the TV remote and end up with the sound blaring. I sometimes swap them left/right on my head and the fit is almost as comfortable. My original comfort comments above were from the normal orientation. Swapped L/R they are maginally less comfortable.

Overall great, ergonomically they need a tweak or two. Worth the cost, definitly.

Customer Review: Nothing Better!

I purchased these headphones to replace a wireless set (Optimus Pro 100) I've used for the past 10 years. My old set worked very well, but would cut out in certain places throughout the house, due to various electrical interferences with the signal. This Sennheiser set has automatic tuning to keep the signal strong, with only a momentary loss while it quickly retunes. I had to manually retune with the old set. I also have a hearing loss, so I use these to hear the TV or Movie with clarity, and don't have to turn up the volume on the TV and disturb others in the room. The added clarity with this system is much better than my old system, and allows me to understand what is being said without having to rely on closed captions so much. I am very happy with these headphones, and hope they last as long as the system they replaced. The audiophiles that have reviewed this product cannot understand how much the hard of hearing can appreciate this product. I don't have to wear my hearing aids with this system, and I can hear many of the frequencies that are normally difficult for me. I couldn't ask for anything better!

Update; I noticed a few reviewers commenting on some hiss detected in this unit while walking around their house or outside. I have the TV audio signal connected to my tuner/amplifier, and I plug the wireless transmitter in to the headphone jack on the front of my tuner/amp. I shut off my stereo speakers, and turn up the volume on the tuner/amp to send a stronger signal to the wireless transmitter, and it eliminates the hiss or weaker signal strength I believe they are reporting. My wife noticed the same problem recently, and I showed her how to increase the transmission volume to eliminate it. Hope this helps.
