Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser PXC150 Active Noise Cancelling Headphone

Customer Review: Great value for the price, great sound
Summary: 4 Stars

The headphones have clear sound and I could hear notes throughout the range. I would have liked more bass but didn't notice any improvement with another brand name headphone I tried in the same price range. I wear these when running and wasn't bothered by the noise cancelling attachment that some others noted. The attachment clipps comfortably to my shorts, is light enough to clip to my shirt, and long enough to clip to my messenger bag while walking. The earpieces are comfortable for my average size ears. They seal well too. I could turn them up on the train without nearby commuters hearing them like they can with earbuds. They are sturdier than some all plastic headphones with a very thin metal band securing the curves. I am more particular than average about having quality sound and I would buy them again.

Customer Review: Outstanding price for a quality NC!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm a graduate student and spend a significant amount of time in coffee shops. With the espresso machine going on and off, along with background converstations, these work great. Sennheiser's website states that they will cancel out 70% of noise and they do. You can only expect what they report, nothing more. Especially given the price. The 150's use the same NC system as the 300's for 1/2 the price (1/6 the price given Amazon's current deal).
The one downside is that their bass is pretty weak. I constantly have to adjust the EQ on my computer in order to get the best sound. Supposedly the AKG K 28 NC has amazing bass, but you lose some of the mids and highs, which, by the way, are beautiful on the PXC's. So, It's your call. I'm a fan!!

Customer Review: good sound with drawbacks
Summary: 3 Stars

i like the sound, crips high's and mid, not a lot of bass, but sounds very nice, however, this baby is going back because the three drawbacks:

1) it's a mini headphone, my ear hurts after wearing if for extended time, this is more apparent if I compare it with my other headphones.

2) the noise cancellation unit is a pain, make the headphone only useful i I am stationary.

3) uses 2 AAA batteries, the noise cancellation is marginal and cost $$, and gives a slight hiss sound when turned on, which is sometimes annoying when between songs.

biggest issues is the earcup too small, also the ugly bad design of the noise cancellation unit.

Customer Review: Very good value
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought these headphones for my iPod during travel. Compared with the Bose noise cancelling headphones I found the sound of the Sennheisers more natural and less "rich" which might not be enough for others. They are lightweight and the comfort is OK although getting less comfortable after 2-3 hours. Sound reduction is good and really helpful when enjoying inflight entertainment (necessary adapters are included) or during bus or train travel. When looking at other products keep in mind that the Sennheisers work with standard AA batteries and that you can still listen to your music without batteries (without noise reduction of course).

Customer Review: very decent noise cancelling, prone to interference
Summary: 4 Stars

bought this headphone for clearance price
tested it right away on subway ride, and heard the instant noise cancelling effect, the roaring noise is blocked out, but you may feel some pressure in your head because of noise cancelling
this has a dongle, which has battery box and electronic circuit, and, if you use AT&T and T-Mobile, make sure your phone stays away from this battery box, because the box is prone to interference, and it's very loud
it's not foldable makes it a bit less conveient
no matter these shortcomings, the decent noise cancelling effect well worth the price
