Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser PMX80 In-Ear Sport Series II Behind the Head Earphones

Customer Review: Fell Apart in a week!
Summary: 1 Stars

I had the PMX 70 for over year and loved them. I'm a runner, and had horrible experiences with head phones from Nike, Sony, Jensen, etc. They would all short out in a few months. the PMX 70's were awesome, could handle rain, sweat, heat.

They were so good, that my girlfriend stole them for me for her workouts.

I bought these as replacements.

At first I noticed they had a sort of ridge on them, that was very uncomfortable and dug into the ear. I lived with it. Today, I got back from a run and took out the earphones and the right earpiece came apart. The plastic broke and the wires are now hanging out of the right ear piece.

for $50 bucks and after great a great experience with the PMX 70's I expected more

Customer Review: Shocking Headphones
Summary: 1 Stars

I've had both the PMX70 and PMX80. Visually they are identical except for color. The PMX70 I had the left ear stopped working after 18 months. Read around and you'll see this is a constant problem for these headphones. Suddenly there is no sound in the left ear, and you'll never get sound again. Not worth the warranty repair.

So I bought a replacement PMX80 and the left ear stopped working after 3 months. Only 3 months?? Grrrr!!! I got a replacement pair. On that replacement PMX80 *both* ears suddenly started to *shock* inside my ears after 6 months of use on multiple devices. It was quite startling. So once again I'm calling the company. I work out hard daily and do sweat but that's where I thought the strength of these headphones were.

Customer Review: Disappointing: started failing after 2 runs
Summary: 1 Stars

I am forever in search of the perfect running headphones and these looked good. I liked the shape and fit of the neckband and earbuds, and they appeared to be sturdy. The one apparent drawback from a design standpoint was the fixed anchor point of the cord to the front of the left earpiece. I prefer either an adjustable anchor point, as on the Sony Mdr-As50G, or one behind the ear, like the Philips SHQ4000/28.

Unfortunately they started cutting out in one ear on my second run. What a bummer. I returned them and will not order a replacement, as it's been my experience that quality is fairly consistent within a brand or product. If you got a good pair of these that has worked great, good for you. If not, go for the Sonys or the Philips.

Customer Review: Some design flaws
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased these headphones to wear while jogging. I have two issues with it:
1. The fit was too snug, so I had to bend the plastic outwards until it stayed in that extended position. It's not by default a "one-size fits all" product
2. The exterior of the jack is too thick for use on an ipod nano when you have the Nike+ receiver connected. It rubs against the Nike+ receiver and has popped out the receiver a few times (thus interrupting running stats for that session). The solution was to cut off the headphone's cable and rewire it to a jack from an old headset. I wouldn't recommend doing this as it voids warranty and is not the same as having the product intact.

After solving these two issues, the product works just fine.
