Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser PMX80 In-Ear Sport Series II Behind the Head Earphones

Customer Review: Maybe I got a bad one...
Summary: 3 Stars

I'm a fan of behind-the-ear headphones. I tried a Philips model recently but it had zero bass, which was a dealbreaker for me. I picked up this Sennheiser model from Amazon and initially was very happy. The sound was great and the only discomfort that I felt was when I first put the headphones on and they felt tight on my ears. After a few minutes of wear, that feeling disappeared...Then about 2 weeks into owning them, the plug connection at the end of the headphone wire started to get loose (my belief, not 100% sure because the wires are protected by the orange rubber) and the quality went way down. Music was cutting in and out while I was running unless the plug was held at just the right angle. I thought it could be my mp3 player so I tried the headphones on two other devices...same issue. So I am going to request a replacement and see how it goes, then hopefully the review will go up to 5 stars, because when these things work, they're great!

Customer Review: A Workout Workhorse
Summary: 5 Stars

I spent an entire afternoon sifting through reviews here on Amazon before settling for the PMX80. The reason? My Ipod came with the standard ear buds which sounded great, but kept falling out of my ears when I was using the treadmill or jogging. I needed ear phones that could take a good sweat, were sturdy, easily cleaned and comfortable while staying in my ears. I got all that and more with the PMX80.

The sound quality far exceeds that of the standard IPOD phones although I was able to get a tad more volume out of them. Not really a problem as they are plenty loud enough for my workouts. I guess the only thing I would do differently if I had designed them would be to have the wire coming out of the right side instead of the left, but again, no big deal, I just wear my Ipod holder on the left side instead of the right. All in all, this is a quality product that does what it was designed to do very well. I highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Stay in place during high impact training
Summary: 5 Stars

I've tried literally every kind of sports earphones there are, and these are the only ones that stay in place no matter what I do, be it martial arts, cross fit, jogging, gymnastics, etc. They're sweat resistant, lightweight, and Sennheiser is no slouch when it comes to audio quality. One small inconvenience is due to their awkward shape, they are not the easiest things to transport. If there is a "negative" worth noting it's when resting your head back on something like a chair, couch, or pillow the behind the neck bar can take a moment to position comfortably. Basically you simply push the bar down under the arch of your neck, and it's fine. Then again these are sports earphones, not couch potato headphones, so I use the word negative loosely. If you're doing sports, the bar "floats" behind your neck as it's intended to and there's no issues. Get these if you need light earphones that stay where they belong while you workout.

Customer Review: Excellent headphones, But hurt the ears after long usage
Summary: 4 Stars

This are worth every penny, only problem is I wouldn't recommend wearing for hours at a time while just sitting around. After a while the hard plastic (along with the rubber pieces) hurt the ears. Great for running, a little of a hassle during Benching events though. As the band shifts to the neck, upper part of the head region, which cuts off some of the sound. The cable gets in the way if you lay on it while Benching, the rubber cable clings to you so when scooting up to the bar. Can cause the headphones to yank off your head, or iPod/MP3. Curling weights, The cable attempts to get in your hands, best fix for that is attach the cloths clip (it comes with) to the right side of your shirts neck hole. Other than the minor set backs. (easily fixable) They are by far the best sports (water resistance and durability) headphones I've worn, with great sound quality and performance. Hate the orange color though!! lol

Customer Review: Spend your money like it's 2006, or not.
Summary: 2 Stars

I've had these for 6 months now, and they're about dead. They've had minimal use, including limited to transportation in the top of a backpack during a short commute to an from a treadmill @ the gym. The weak point is where the single cord comes out of the headset... the connection is very flimsy and slight tugging exposes the small fragile wires. At this point, the sound is fuzzing in and out and I fear that they won't last another week.

The wrap around feature is okay, but the sound gets muffled after 15 minutes of running when they start to get wet and form an annoying seal in the ear. They're not uncomfortable about the head after an hour of use, but if they don't work, what's the point of comfort?

At $40, I've been conscious of where these go and how they're treated. Unfortunately, they don't return the consideration. Save your money... these are neither durable nor price-worthy.
