Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sennheiser PMX80 In-Ear Sport Series II Behind the Head EarphonesCustomer Review: Finally Summary: 5 Stars
I have been through 3 pairs of headphones,JVC over the ear, the ones that came with my ipod, and the Shure210 in ear.I run 5 miles a day,5 days a week on a treadmill, through the neighborhood and through the woods. I usually drop between 2-4 lbs on every run through sweating.
What a relief to be able to still be listening to crystal, clear music from start to finish. I listen to Metallica,Priest,Iron Maiden,ACDC and Queensryche on all my runs. The sound is clear from the high pitch vocals of Queensryche, the screaming guitars of Priest and the bone thumping crunch of Metallica.I listen to all this music at about 95% volume
These headphones are the real deal for people who like to listen to music while running without the speakers going dead from sweat,or from just plain falling out from the pounding of your feet on the ground. I run at a 8mph pace and have yet to even have to adjust these headphones.
Thanks to all that reccomended them. I have finally found a pair of headphones that work through hard paced runs
Customer Review: Really good headphones!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a durable set of headphones that compliment my active lifestyle. I read several reviews and though these were a tad more expensive than I wanted to pay, they have so far been worth every penny. They sound fantastic and are powerful so I don't have to pump up the volume on my Zune. They are comfortable and water resistant. Most of the reviews were about running or working out. I am a cyclist and I was afraid that there would be some wind noise or that the sound would not reflect properly because the "phones" are forward facing. No problem. I also use them at work. One month in, these are wonderful. My first set of Sennheisers. Probably not my last...
Updated: There is some noise in high winds on the bike that headphones that cover your ears would probably not have. However, I still find these far more preferable to earbuds and headphones that cover your ears for my active endeavors. Doesn't change my rating, I just turn up the volume a little...
Customer Review: Nicely designed but with limitations Summary: 4 Stars
These are the best sounding sports phones I've tried to date compared to cheaper Sony and Nike models. Since these fit vertically in the ear, the good sounds, especially the bass, comes from the oversized drivers. This means the drivers don't fit in your ear, the rest vertically only slightly in the ear canal. If your ears are bony (mine are), you'll feel a little pressure. I had to use the foam covers to avoid these hurting.
Be aware, these are behind the head phones so they don't work well laying down. If you're jogging, these will do great. I also wear them for weightlifting and can do OK with these on the bench or machines. For bicycling, the helmet straps put some pressure on the ear pieces. They do let in just enough outside sound that you're not totally isolated from your surroundings but mostly you just hear the music.
Overall, these are really nice sports headphones if you like the behind-the-head design and don't mind the unusual driver size.
Customer Review: Is there a perfect running headphone? Summary: 2 Stars
I love to run while listening to music. Over the years I have used headphones for my ipod and I am still looking for the perfect running headphone, if it exists. The problem with this one is it presses into my ear too hard and hurts. I have tried to bend it a little but am afraid it will break. The problem in the past is my headphones tend to fall out when I sweat and I hate constantly putting it back in. This one does not fall out because it presses so hard. Otherwise it is fine. Sound is good enough for a run, it does not get in the way, if sweat accumulates in my ear I can easily fix that and the headphone goes back in fine. I have tried keeping the earpiece in the canal and have tried laying it on the cartilage just outside the canal. No difference. If I were redesigning this headphone I would try a cushion type earpiece that did not dig and hurt the ear so much or make the inward pressure adjustable. I may try to rig some foam to try to make this more comfortable.
Customer Review: good for running with glasses Summary: 4 Stars
Been running in hot sweaty weather with these for several months. They sound good (a somewhat bigger sound than apple earbuds, but frankly probably comparable sound quality). I wear glasses and the headband fits fine over them. No amount of sweat affects either their sound or fit; they stay firmly in my ears, as comfortable as things held very firmly in one's ear can be. I never have to fiddle with them while running; I barely notice that I am wearing them. They let in enough ambient street noise so that I can hear cars approaching on the street (this is a good thing in my book; these are not sound isolation earphones). I like how I can run the single cord from the headphones down my back so the cord is out of the way of my arms (the cord is just long enough to reach my player in my hip pouch). The clip on the headphone cord is handy for this. For the price, these are very good, lightweight sports headphones that so far can take a pounding and a soaking.
