Customer Review: Depends on your workout routine, but overall a fantastic buy.
Summary: 4 Stars

People like ourselves that are into athletics seem like we are constantly on the look out for a good set of headphones to work out in. I am certainly no different and have been through more pairs than I care to remember. Much of what you want out of a good pair depends entirely on what sport you participate in, so my review of this product is strictly from the viewpoint of a runner. That said, I can tell you that you would be hard pressed to find a pair of this quality in anything near this price range ([...] bucks). Over the course of the past year, I have ran 2 Marathons and several 5K's and am just now having to buy another pair. Also important to note is that I have the tendency to be rough on things.

The good quality of these is that they stay secure. One of the most frustrating things for any runner is to have your headphones jingle around or fall off while you are on the go. It breaks your concentration and tarnishes your run. I have heard some people complain that they hurt their head after extended periods, but that was not the case with me. They did become more comfortable after a couple of weeks, and I had them broken in.

As far as sound quality, It can certainly be topped by the more expensive varieties, but why waste the hard earned cash on your workout headphones. They do the job adequately enough for my taste, and after the first mile or so, I almost start to forget that I even have them on at all.

Durability wise, as I previously stated it took me a year to finally make my old pair bite the dust, and from me that is a significant feat.

Customer Review: Very uncomfortable unless you have the head size of an orange
Summary: 2 Stars

They certainly won't fall off your head, since they are so tight that they gave me a headache in about five minutes. The sound quality seems fine, but no sense listening to nice sound when they are so uncomfortable to wear. These would be too tight for mini me. While the neckband is too small and can't be adjusted, the ear buds are too big, which makes them doubly uncomfortable. These a perfectly designed for Mr. Potato Head, since he has a rather small head, but bigger ears. And why wouldn't these headphones have at least some sort of size adjustment? Maybe a flexible design would make them feel a little more comfortable.

I used to buy Koss P9, which were very comfortable, but they are made so cheaply now that they would only play in one ear after using them only a couple of times. The Koss P14 are better constructed and fold, but they have wires coming from both ears, which makes them prone to snag on clothing when turning your head. The width difference between the unadjustable PMX 70 and the adjustable Koss P14 is about 1.5 inches, which is a lot when considering comfort. The quality of the P9 has been getting worse by the month. I have used them out of the box and they have been defective, but they are comfortable :) Quality control seems to be a thing of the past, but I digress.

An inline volume control on the PMX 70 would be a nice addition.

Beware - very uncomfortable with no adjustment options. I am very disappointed. They may be appreciated by my nine year old niece, who has the perfect head size for these tiny headphones.

Customer Review: Pretty cool headphones which do what they're supposed to do.
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had the headphones for a little over a month now and I have to say that they're really starting to grow on me. I had always worn the older style, completely over the ear headphones, until switching to the smaller "inner ear" plug type of headphones a few years back and it took me a long while to get used to the switch. Similarly, it took me a while to get used to these. At first, I found the fit within my ear a bit uncomfortable and didn't think that they delivered the same punch that the inner headphones delivered. After a month of continuous use, I find these so much more comfortable than the inner ear ones and have gotten completely used to the sound. (Though, I haven't gone back to compare again to the inner ear type.) I no long have to adjust the ear phones as I'm jogging, or laying back on the bench or even walking around the gym for that matter!

Ultimately, these do what they're supposed to, which is provide a comfortable set of headphones to use when working out. The headphones seem to be put together pretty good and are sturdy. The fact that they only use one cable allows me to do just wrap it behind me and alleviates the problem I had with other headphones of always getting the cable caught when doing curls, for instance. The sound is good and I found that it I shift the headphones higher up on my head, I can even do exercises on the bench without the band digging into the back of my head. The funky, fluorescent green color is a plus too.

Overall a great purchase for the money. I highly recommend them!

Customer Review: Sennheiser PMX70 headphones
Summary: 5 Stars

Sennheiser PMX70 Sport Line Stereo Neckband Headphones

The first pair of these I purchased over a year ago for use with an iPod nano and armband combination to use during active sports.

They were initially a little awkward to put on, as they go behind the neck rather than over the head (look for the name on the band; it should be at the back of the neck, facing up). My ears are probably a little bigger than average, so I also have to pull the tops of my ears out over the band so they're not smashed.

I got a second pair about a month ago for work. Much of my day is spent listening to digitally recorded material. I do find that after a couple of hours they become somewhat uncomfortable (the flip side of staying in place well) and I need a little break from them (10-20 minutes, & they back on.) So much for the cons.

The pros are significant:
* They stay in play through nearly any activity (no swimming)
* The sound quality is quite good.
* Because of the secure fit, they manage to block some of the background noise.
* They're durable. They've been through hiking, biking, running, weight-lifting for over a year and the only problem is that one of the green ear covers has been lost. They've also been plugged/unplugged from various devices hundreds of times and seem to be holding up well.

Would recommend and would buy again.

Customer Review: Good Sport Headphones for Working Out
Summary: 4 Stars

These are good headphones for working out and outdoor activity. They are great for running as well as snow skiing, weightlifting, and hiking. I used these headphones regularly for 5 years before accidently washing them in a load of laundry. Oops! Unfortunately, they didn't fare too well immersed in water for 30 minutes.

As an older model, the prices have come down considerably. If you can afford it, I would recommend upgrading to the orange sibling Sennheiser PMX80. Compared with the 70 series, the 80 series is built slightly better. The plastic used is durable and better balanced, fit is improved, sound quality is enhanced, and the added shirt clip is helpful.

If you are looking for excellent sound quality, then go explore Bose and Shure Earphones. The Sennheiser PMX70 headphones are intended for sports and activity. The sound is good/solid but not excellent, probably due to making them water resistant. It is not quite noise cancelling, but just enough to get you focused on your workout.

Pro - good sound for a rugged sports headphone
Pro - durable, lightweight, comfortable, stays in place, fits securely
Pro - good construction, one piece wraps around back of head, single long cord
Pro - sweat, rain, and water resistant and can be washed under tap water

Con - Can become uncomfortable after a long period of time
Con - Excessive sweat can sometimes hinder sound
Con - Does not compare in sound quality to Bose and Shure Earphones
